• #EQUALGAME This week, football fans watching UEFA Champions League matches in stadiums, online and on TV will witness the premiere of the new UEFA RESPECT TV ads, called #EqualGame. The adverts feature Ada Hegerberg, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and amateur players and will run throughout the season to promote inclusion, diversity and accessibility in European Football with the motto "Everyone has the right to enjoy football, no matter who you are, where you're from, or how you play." More information on the campaign and on the advertisements can be found in the accompanying media release and on the campaign website: www.equalgame.com. Olympiacos FC and Sporting Clube de Portugal will both know the importance of a winning start as they meet in the opening round of Group D fixtures for the first time. • With FC Barcelona and Juventus also in the section, three points for either side in Piraeus will give them some early impetus ahead of those tough fixtures to come. Match background Olympiacos • Olympiacos are in the group stage for an 18th time. They lost to Hapoel Beer-Sheva FC in last season's third qualifying round, the first time they had missed out on the UEFA Champions League group stage since 2010/11. • In 2016/17, the Greek side went on to reach the UEFA Europa League round of 16, falling 5-2 on aggregate to Beşiktaş JK. • The Piraeus club earned a place in this season's qualifying rounds by winning their 44th Greek championship in 2016/17 – their seventh in a row. • Olympiacos opened this season with a 5-3 aggregate success against FK Partizan in the third qualifying round (3-1 away, 2-2 home). They then got the better of HNK Rijeka in the play-off round, coming through 2-1 at home and 1-0 away. • That home victory against the Croatian club was Olympiacos's first in five European home matches, ending a run of four successive draws on their own ground. • Beaten 1-0 by SL Benfica in the 1973/74 European Cup first round second leg – their first visit from a Portuguese team, which confirmed a 2-0 aggregate defeat – Olympiacos have won all seven subsequent games against Liga visitors. Their most recent was a 2-1 home victory over FC Arouca in last season's UEFA Europa League play-off second leg, completing a 3-1 aggregate triumph. Sporting CP • Sporting are in the group stage for a third time in four years. In 2016/17, they came fourth in their group behind Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid CF and Legia Warszawa. • Sporting qualified by finishing third in the Portuguese Liga in 2016/17. • The Portuguese side were 5-1 aggregate winners against Romania's FCSB in the play-offs, following up a 0-0 home draw with a 5-1 success in Bucharest. • That win in Romania ended Sporting's four-game losing streak in European away matches, and was just their second victory in their last 23 European away fixtures (D5 L16). • The Lisbon club lost all three away games in last autumn's UEFA Champions League group stage, extending their losing run in the competition proper away from home to five. Their last success outside Portugal came with a 1-0 victory at FC Basel 1893 on 9 December 2008; their record since is D1 L6. • Sporting's only experience of Greek opposition was a 4-1 home win against Panionios GSS in the 2004/05 UEFA Cup group stage. Coach and player links • André Martins signed for Sporting in 2002, joining the Under-13 squad. He made his senior debut in 2011 and went on to amass more than 100 appearances before moving to Olympiacos in summer 2016. • Has played in Greece: André Pinto (Panathinaikos FC, 2012/13) • Have played in Portugal: Diogo Figueiras (CD Pinhalnovense 2010/11, Paços Ferreira, 2011–13, Moreirense FC 2012) Sebá (FC Porto 2012/13, GD Estoril Praia 2013–15)

Felipe Pardo (SC Braga 2013–15) Mehdi Carcela-González (SL Benfica, 2015/16) • Pardo faced Sporting five times while at Braga, losing four and also tasting defeat in the last as Sporting lost the 2015 Portugual Cup final on penalties after a 2-2 draw. • Have played together: Sebá & Bruno César (Estoril, 2015) Felipe Pardo & André Pinto (Braga, 2014–15) Rodrigo Battaglia & André Pinto (Braga, 2013/14) Stefano Kapino & André Pinto (Panathinaikos, 2012/13) Jagoš Vuković & Radosav Petrović (Serbia) Match facts Olympiacos • Besnik Hasi is undefeated in his first seven games as Olympiacos coach (W5 D2). • Olympiacos have won eight of their last ten matches since losing 2-1 at home to AEK Athens FC in the first leg of their Greek Cup semi-final on 13 April. • Centre-back Björn Engels struck 12 minutes into his debut on Saturday as Olympiacos drew 1-1 at Xanthi FC. • has scored four goals in six club appearances this season. • Summer signing Panagiotis Tachtsidis has yet to make his debut for Olympiacos due to injury. However, he was an unused substitute for Greece in their recent European Qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium. • Vuković suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Serbia and is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks. Sporting • Sporting have won six of their seven matches this season, drawing the other. • For the second successive year, the Lions took maximum points from their first four Liga fixtures. Sporting lost their fifth game of the 2016/17 campaign but they won it this time courtesy of Bas Dost's last-gasp clincher at CD Feirense on Friday. • Dost – Portuguese Liga top scorer last season with 34 goals – has four domestic goals to his name this term, Gelson Martins and Bruno Fernandes three apiece. Dost and Martins also registered in the play-off second leg against FCSB. • Sebastián Coates was on target on Friday, his first goal in ten months. • Fábio Coentrão's first international appearance since October 2015 was short-lived as he went off injured 27 minutes into Portugal's 1-0 victory over Hungary in the European Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup on 3 September. He has not played since. • Fernandes was called up by Portugal for the first time but was an unused substitute against the Faroe Islands and Hungary.

8 Olympiacos FC - Sporting Clube de Portugal Tuesday 12 September 2017 - 20.45CET (21.45 local time) Match press kit Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis, Piraeus Head coach Besnik Hasi Date of birth: 29 December 1971 Nationality: Albanian Playing career: Liria Prizren, NK Zagreb, FK Dinamo Pančevo (loan), KF Prishtina (loan), NK Samobor (loan), KRC Genk, TSV 1860 München (loan), RSC Anderlecht, KSC Lokeren OV, KSV Cercle Brugge Coaching career: RSC Anderlecht, Legia Warsawa, Olympiacos FC • A defensive midfielder, Hasi represented a number of clubs in the former Yugoslavia before gaining his first taste of Belgian football by moving to Genk in 1994. • After a loan spell at 1860 München in the 1997/98 season, Hasi returned to Genk, winning the Eerste Klasse title in 1999 and the Belgian Cup in 2000, scoring in the final against R. Standard de Liège. • Made his debut for Albania on 15 November 2000 against Malta and registered the first of his two international goals three years later during a UEFA EURO 2004 qualifier at home to Georgia. • Linked up with Anderlecht for the first time in 2000 and helped the Brussels club to the championship in 2001 and 2004. After leaving for Lokeren in 2006, he finished his playing career two years later at Cercle Brugge. • Returned to Anderlecht the same year when he became assistant coach to Ariël Jacobs. In March 2014 he replaced John van den Brom, Jacobs's successor, as head coach and led the club to their 33rd league title, overturning the five-point gap that existed between the Mauves et Blanc and leaders Standard at the beginning of the championship play-offs. Moved to Poland and Legia in June 2016 but lasted less than four months, returning to coaching at Olympiacos the following June. Jorge Jesus Date of birth: 24 July 1954 Nationality: Portuguese Playing Career: Sporting Clube de Portugal, GD Peniche, SC Olhanense, CF Os Belenenses, GD Riopele, Juventude SC, UD Leiria, Vitória FC, SC Farense, CF Estrela da Amadora, Benfica e Castelo Branco, SR Almancilense Coaching career: Amora FC, FC Felgueiras, CF Estrela da Amadora (twice), Vitória FC, Vitória SC, Moreirense FC, UD Leiria, CF Os Belenenses, SC Braga, SL Benfica, Sporting Clube de Portugal • A midfielder at Sporting, Jesus enjoyed a long if low-key career with a number of smaller Portuguese sides before moving into coaching with fourth division Amora after hanging up his boots in 1989, leading them to a title. Then led Felgueiras from the third division to the Liga in successive seasons, though they were relegated in his third campaign in 1995/96. • Further Liga experience came at hometown side Estrela da Amadora, Setúbal and Guimarães, though he endured another relegation with Moreirense in 2004/05. In 2006/07, he guided Belenenses to fifth place and the Portuguese Cup final, where despite losing to Sporting they earned a place in the UEFA Cup. • Even better followed at Braga in 2008/09 as he guided them to UEFA Intertoto Cup success and subsequently the UEFA Cup round of 16. A fifth-place Liga finish prompted Benfica to lure him back to Lisbon in 2009 and Jesus rewarded their faith with the league title and League Cup in his debut campaign. • After completing a hat-trick of Portuguese League Cup triumphs in 2012, Jesus's Benfica came tantalisingly close to an even bigger treble in 2013, only to finish runners-up in both the Portuguese Liga and Cup and lose the UEFA Europa League final to Chelsea FC. • Signed a two-year contract extension in June 2013 and led Benfica to another UEFA Europa League final the following season, although they again lost, this time to Sevilla FC. That disappointment was somewhat soothed by a clean sweep of the three domestic trophies, with another league and League Cup secured in 2014/15, during which Jesus became the Benfica coach with the most victories and the most league matches. Unexpectedly left to join Sporting in June 2015, taking the club to the Liga's runners-up spot in his first season – behind Benfica – and third the following year.

UEFA Champions League: Did you know? • In 2012/13, Chelsea became the first defending champions to fail to get through a group stage since the UEFA Champions League began. (This record, like the others, includes the seasons between 1999/2000 and 2002/03 that featured a second group stage). In 1992/93, Barcelona were the reigning European Champion Clubs' Cup holders and lost 4-3 on aggregate in the second round to CSKA Moskva. • In 2016/17 Real Madrid became the first team to successfully defended the UEFA Champions League trophy, with Milan (1989, 1990) the previous club to win consecutive European Cups. Milan (1994, 1995), Ajax (1995, 1996), Juventus (1996, 1997) and Manchester United (2008, 2009) have all returned to the UEFA Champions League final as holders only to lose. • Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta is the oldest player to compete in the UEFA Champions League having featured against Real Madrid on matchday six in 2007/08 aged 43 years and 252 days. Alessandro Costacurta is the oldest outfield player; the Milan defender was 40 years and 211 days when he played against AEK Athens in 2006/07. • Francesco Totti is the oldest player to score in the competition, aged 38 years and 59 days, in Roma's 1-1 draw at CSKA Moskva on 25 November 2014. Ryan Giggs (37 years 290 days) was the previous record holder. • Celestine Babayaro is the youngest player to have appeared; he was 16 years and 87 days when he started for Anderlecht against Steaua Bucureşti on 23 November 1994. He was sent off in the 37th minute. • Peter Ofori-Quaye is the youngest player to have scored in the UEFA Champions League, aged 17 years and 195 days. He found the net in Olympiacos's 5-1 defeat at Rosenborg on 1 October 1997. • Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals in a match in Barcelona's 7-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen on 7 March 2012, a feat matched by Shakhtar Donetsk's Luiz Adriano at BATE Borisov on 21 October 2014. Eleven more players, also including Messi, have scored four times in a game, most recently Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid CF on matchday six in 2015/16. • Cristiano Ronaldo set a new record for a UEFA Champions League stage with 11 goals in 2015/16, eclipsing his own mark of nine goals in 2013/14, which Luiz Adriano matched in 2014/15. Lionel Messi got ten goals in 2016/17; Zlatan Ibrahimović (2013/14), Ruud van Nistelrooy (2004/05), Filippo Inzaghi and Hernán Crespo (both 2002/03) managed eight. • Messi's hat-trick on matchday three of the 2016/17 competition was his seventh in the competition, a record Ronaldo matched against Club Atlético de Madrid in the 2016/17 semi-finals. • Barcelona have finished as group winners on 18 occasions, three more than Real Madrid and four more than Manchester United and FC Bayern München. • Bayern München (2 April 2013 to 27 November 2013) and Real Madrid (23 April 2014 to 18 February 2015) jointly hold the record for successive wins in the UEFA Champions League proper with ten. Bayern surpassed the previous mark of nine, set by Barcelona between 18 September 2002 and 18 February 2003. • Six teams have recorded six successive victories in a UEFA Champions League group stage: Milan (1992/93), Paris Saint-Germain (1994/95), Spartak Moskva (1995/96), Barcelona (2002/03, first group stage) and Real Madrid (2011/12 and 2014/15). • Nineteen teams have gone through a UEFA Champions League group stage without picking up a single point, most recently Club Brugge KV and GNK Dinamo Zagreb in 2016/17. • Borussia Dortmund set a new group stage record by scoring 21 goals in 2016/17, eclipsing the old mark of 20 by Manchester United (1998/99), Barcelona (2011/12, 2016/17) and Real Madrid (2013/14). • Only Deportivo La Coruña (2004/05), Maccabi Haifa (2009/10) and Dinamo Zagreb (2016/17) have failed to score in a group stage. • BATE Borisov conceded 24 goals in 2014/15, a new record which was matched by Legia Warszawa in 2016/17. The previous mark, 22, was held by Dinamo Zagreb (2011/12) and Nordsjælland (2012/13); Malmö FF shipped 21 in 2015/16. • No team has ever gone through a UEFA Champions League group stage without conceding a goal. Milan (1992/93), Ajax (1995/96), Juventus (1996/97 and 2004/05), Chelsea (2005/06), Liverpool (2005/06), Villarreal (2005/06), Manchester United (2010/11), Monaco (2014/15) and Paris Saint-Germain (2015/16) all let in just one. • Before their 3-1 win against Sporting Clube de Portugal on matchday six of the 2006/07 campaign, Spartak Moskva went 22 games without a victory in the competition, a mark Steaua Bucureşti surpassed on matchday six in 2013/14.

• RSC Anderlecht hold the unwanted record for successive defeats in the competition, group stage to final, having lost 12 in a row between December 2003 and November 2005. GNK Dinamo Zagreb are next with 11 consecutive losses on two occasions, from September 2011 to December 2012 and again from 29 September 2015 onwards. • The lowest total for a team qualifying from the group stage is six points: Zenit in 2013/14 and AS Roma in 2015/16. Since three points for a win was introduced in 1995/96, eight teams have made it through with seven points: Legia Warszawa (1995/96), Dynamo Kyiv (1999/2000), Liverpool (2001/02), Lokomotiv Moskva and eventual finalists Juventus (both 2002/03), Rangers and Werder Bremen (2005/06) and Basel 1893 (2014/15). • Napoli failed to qualify from their group with 12 points in 2013/14, the highest total of any team not to reach the next stage when the top two in each section progressed. Dynamo Kyiv (1999/2000), Borussia Dortmund (2002/03 – both second group stage), PSV Eindhoven (2003/04), Olympiacos and Dynamo Kyiv (both 2004/05), Werder Bremen (2006/07), Manchester City (2011/12), Chelsea and CFR 1907 Cluj (both 2012/13), Benfica (2013/14) and FC Porto (2015/16) all missed out with ten points. • Only two teams have ever won the UEFA Champions League on home soil: Borussia Dortmund (1997, final in Munich) and Juventus (1996, final in Rome), while Manchester United lost the 2011 final in London and 12 months later Bayern were beaten in the showpiece in their own stadium, the Fußball Arena München.
