The City Council intends to discuss the combined communication center for emergency dispatch, and possibly the unification of city and county fire services at a Tuesday night meeting in City Hall. Recent talks between city and county officials indicate a renewed interest in a combined commu- Witt nication center. Currently, calls to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Fire Department, emergency medical services and Johnson Columbia County Fire and Rescue are taken through one dispatch center while calls to the Lake City Police Department are sent to another.
