Shannon GOWER Head Coach Third Season Texas Wesleyan,‘04

Shannon Gower is in her third season as head coach of the Texas Wesleyan softball program.

With 57 wins in her first two seasons at the helm, Gower clearly has the Lady Rams headed in the right direction. In her first season as head coach, she led the Lady Rams to a 28-25 record, a four-game improvement over the 2004 campaign. The team was also .500 (12- 12) in Red River Athletic Conference play for the first time since joining the conference. In addition, the Lady Rams reached the semifinals of the RRAC Tournament for the second consecutive season.

In 2006, the Rams got even better posting a 29-21 record. They were the 2nd-seed in the RRAC Tournament after going 16-8 in conference play. The Lady Rams broke numerous records including their 66 home runs, which was an NAIA record at the time, although it was later broken by the University of Mobile who finished the season with 80. In addition, Gower placed five players on the All-RRAC and All-Region VI teams.

Gower was a member of the 2002 and 2003 Texas Wesleyan softball teams, for whom she was the starting shortstop. She also received the team's 3-D Award in her senior season. Prior to joining the Wesleyans softball team, Gower was a two-year letter winner at Vernon Regional Junior College, where she was selected to the Region V All- Star team and was a captain in her sophomore season. Sycamore Park Sycamore Park is located less than a mile from the Texas Wesleyan campus and has been the home for Lady Ram Softball since 1989. The field has a capacity of 500. The dimensions of the field are 210- feet in left field, 225-feet in center field and 205-feet in right field. Last season the Lady Rams owned an 13-9 (.590) record in games played at Sycamore Park. Texas Wesleyan owns an all-time record of 195- 130-2 (.600) at Sycamore Park.

Men’s Soccer: The men’s soccer team has advanced to the postseason the last three seasons, winning their first Red River Championship and advancing to the Region VI tournament for the first time last season. -Ram Soccer also has the third most goals scored in one game in NAIA history, scoring 26 goals in 2003 against Dallas Christian. Women’s Soccer: The women’s soccer team qualified for the postseason for the fourth consecutive season, and also won its first Red River Championship in 2005. -Jessica Carrion was named 1st-team All-Conference in all four seasons with the Lady Rams.
