Please Note: Buses will run twice on testing days. They will run at the regularly scheduled time for students who ​ are testing and again five hours later on April 11 and four hours later on April 12 and April 13 for all students.

IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION: ● CMAS - Ninth grade students will be participating in the state mandated CMAS Math and Language Arts ​ testing April 11-13. Eleventh grade students will participate in the CMAS Science testing on April 13. Students need to be prepared for this computer-based testing by bringing their school issued Chromebooks, fully charged, on testing days. Additionally, ninth grade students will need their calculators on April 11 for the Math section of the test and headphones or earbuds for a recorded portion of the Language Arts testing on April 12 and 13. ● SAT / PSAT - Juniors will be participating in the SAT on April 11, and sophomores will be participating in ​ the PSAT 10 on April 12. Students must be at school by 7:20 a.m. on their respective testing day and bring a calculator, #2 pencils, and student ID.

SWIM/DIVE FUNDRAISER: Please support the Boys’ Swim and Dive Team on Tuesday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 9 ​ p.m. for a restaurant fundraiser at Walter's Pizza at 5194 South Lowell Blvd. Please mention the Heritage Boys’ Swim and Dive Team when paying, and Walter's will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to our team. This restaurant fundraiser is for dine in or take out only. Hope to see you there!

SCREENAGERS: Do you and your parent argue about screen time? Are you trying to find a healthy balance in this ​ digital age? Students and parents are invited to a special presentation of the film “Screenagers” in the Heritage Theatre on Tuesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend, but a ticket is required due to limited seating. LIBERTY BELLES TRYOUTS: Do you want to be on the HHS 2017-2018 dance team? Heritage Belles/Dance Team ​ Tryout Clinics are April 11, 13, 18, and 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Aux. Gym. GET INVOLVED! Join FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This is a fun group where athletes can be in ​ fellowship with each other, no matter what sport, and learn about Jesus. Breakfast is provided! LIBRARY NEWS: ● Library fee reminders will be handed out during Advisory on Monday, April 10. If you have fees of more than $5, you must pay the bookkeeper and/or bring the overdue book or Chromebook to her in good condition to get the replacement cost adjusted to a late fee. Any fees that are $5 or more have been entered into your Infinite Campus account and must be paid to the Bookkeeping Office. th ● MAD Week 2017 is coming! Celebrate the 10 ​ anniversary of MAD (Make A Difference) Week at Heritage ​ by donating your library fees! Any fees for Chromebooks or library books that total less than $5 can be ​ paid in the library and will be donated to MAD Week 2017! Clear up your library fees and donate to a ​ good cause- it’s a win-win! Starting this Monday, April 10, and through next week’s MAD Week ending on ​ ​ April 21, all fines of less than $5 paid in the Library will be donated to MAD Week!

MAD WEEK STAFF-STUDENT BASKETBALL GAME 2017: This year the Staff-Student Basketball Game will be ​ the kick-off to MAD Week 2017! The game will be Friday, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Main Gym. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 AND each ticket purchaser gets a free raffle ticket for prizes like a Rockies’ game ticket, Avs’ jersey, Steve Spangler Science Basket, and lots more including "Mystery Bags" valued at $50. You can buy additional raffle tickets through April 14 near the Main Entrance during Periods 3-6 and at the game. Raffle tickets are $1 for smaller items and $3 for larger items. Buy five $1 tickets, get one free. Buy four $3 tickets for $10. And don't forget to participate during half-time to win raffle tickets by making a half-court shot - each chance is $1. Be checking social media and school announcements for more information.

NINTH ANNUAL MR. EAGLE CONTEST: Heritage DECA and Community Relations Sponsor the Ninth Annual Mr. ​ Eagle Contest during Mad Week. On Friday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Theatre, 12 boys from the senior class will face off in a Miss America-style pageant to see who will be crowned as the 2017 Mr. Eagle! This exciting event is sponsored by Heritage DECA and Community Relations, and proceeds will go to Sierra Leone and the Gathering Place - this year’s MAD Week cause. Mr. Eagle includes a talent show, an evening wear fashion show, and a question and answer portion. This is sure to be an entertaining evening, so please plan to attend and cheer on your favorite senior boy. Tickets will be on sale for $5 Monday, April 17, through Thursday, April 20, by the Senior Pit and for $8 at the door on Friday.

GRADES-IN-PROGRESS: Twelve-week grades-in-progress will be available on the Infinite Campus Portal on ​ Friday, April 14.

DECA STORE SALE: Every week through the end of the school year there is a special sale on one item in the ​ Deca Store. Look for flyers throughout the school or come to the store, located in the Student Center, to see what the item of the week is. Store hours are Monday - Periods 3, 4, 6; Tuesday - Periods 3 - 6; Wednesday - Periods 2 - 6; and Thursday - Periods 3 - 6. Don't miss out! CO-ED CHEER TRYOUTS: The Heritage Coed Cheer Team is hosting an informational meeting for the 2017/2018 ​ season on Friday, April 14, at 6 p.m. in the Second Floor Lecture Hall. This meeting is mandatory for athletes and parents. You will be provided with the handbook, cost breakdown and other information. Other important dates: ● Cheer Clinic (optional but recommended) - Saturday, April 22, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the C-Gym – Bring water! ● Tryouts - Saturday, April 29, at 7:30 a.m. in the C-Gym for incoming freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. Both GUYS and GIRLS! Requirements for tryouts: You must have the following completed by Friday April 28, in order to tryout: ○ Register online at: www.heritageagles.com (registration will open soon) and click on registration (center of page) and then 17/18 Cheer Registration ○ Up to date physical: You must go to the HHS athletic office and see Mrs. Nathan with your up to date physical (within the last year) to receive a clearance card to bring to tryouts. ○ What to bring to tryouts: Water, clearance card from the Athletic Office, signed agreement, contact form, and $25 tryout fee

COLFAX MARATHON: Hey Heritage families! Are you or someone you know participating in one of the Colfax ​ Marathon races on May 21? The Heritage faculty has put together three - you read that right - THREE marathon relay teams to run Colfax on behalf of the LPS Foundation. In addition, several other teachers are signed up to run the Colfax Urban 10-miler, Half Marathon, or Marathon with the LPS Foundation as their chosen charity partner. If you don't have it in you to race this year (there's always next year!), consider sponsoring one of our teachers! Any amount will help, and the LPS Foundation gets to keep 100% of the proceeds! Heritage High School has an academic recognition program called Student of the Month. Teachers representing the nine curricular departments select four students of the month, usually one from each grade level. Selection criteria are based on high academic achievement and performance in the classroom.

Each month we invite students and parents to attend a reception where teachers cite examples of exemplary student achievement. Each honoree receives a certificate and a pen. Students’ photos are taken to display on digital displays around campus.
