• MANGALORE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

• CUSTOMS DIVISION, Sea Ports: in Panambur, Mangalore is the only major port in the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate. Major items under import are crude petroleum, coal, fertilizers, LPG, timber, chemicals, vegetable oils, raw cashew nuts etc. Major items of export are coffee beans, cashew kernels, marine products and petroleum products like HSD, ATF and naphtha.

There are ten minor ports in the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate, which are located on the coastline between Mangalore and Karwar. •Old Mangalore Port • •Malpe •Hangarkatta • () • •Tadri • •Karwar

Of these, Karwar is an all weather port, while the rest are riverine anchorage lighterage ports. These ports function under the Department of Ports and Inland Water Transport, Government of . Among the major and minor ports in Karnataka, the following are declared as Customs ports vide Notification No.62/94-Cus (N.T.) dated 21-11-1994. •Karwar for import and export of all cargo. •Belekeri for export of iron and manganese ore. •Tadri for import of ships for breaking. •Kundapur for export of iron ore, manganese ore and bauxite. •Malpe for import of ships for breaking and export of iron ore, manganese ore, coffee husk and fish and fish products. •Padubidri for import of coal. •New Mangalore for import and export of all cargo. •Old Mangalore for import and export of all cargo. The other minor ports at Honnavar, Bhatkal and Hangarkatta are not notified under Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962 as Customs Ports.

Amongst the minor ports, Karwar port is an active and main port. The major imports in this port are bitumen, vegetable oil and rock phosphate and the major exports are phosphoric acid and granite blocks. Airport:

• The existing domestic airport at , Mangalore was upgraded to International Airport vide Notification No.50/2006-Cus(NT) dated 03.05.2006 issued under Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962.

• The customs area of the international airport and its boundaries were notified by the Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore vide Notification No.06/2006-Cus(NT) dated 25.05.2006 under Section 8(a) and Section 8(b) of the Customs Act, 1962.

• The first international flight landed at Mangalore Airport landed on 03.10.2006.

• At present, about 30 international flights are operating in a week to places in middle-east viz., Dubai, , Abu Dhabi, Doha and Bahrain.
