UPPER HUTT CITY VS WELLINGTON OLYMPIC MAIDSTONE PARK - KO 3:00 PM
A message from Mark . . .
Welcome one and all for what is shaping up to be an enormous triple header of fabulous football, starting with our ladies team hosting one of their arch enemies in Wellington United, followed by the Men’s Prem team against Olympic and last but definitely not least the Reserves fresh from a great away victory hosting Eastbourne. Wendi and the ladies continue to set the standards with reaching the last 8 of the NZWKOC last weekend with a resounding 10 – 1 win over Wairarapa and are currently sitting top of their league, good luck for the final run in ladies, we are all cheering for you! As for the men, we enter the final third of the season with everyone doing the calculations and permutations of what will be required to have a successful season. We are no different and with only picking up 2 points from a possible 18, we will need maximum reward from our penultimate home game before hitting the road for 3 weeks, to ensure we don’t end up in a dog fight to survive. Our last game versus Island Bay was very encouraging and with a little bit more quality in the defensive third we could have got the 3 points the performance deserved. We had to work hard to create both of our goals (Dan, Jeremy), where Island Bays goals were off our mistakes. I have always said that we will make mistakes but it is how we cover these up, which will define the end result, unfortunately we didn’t scramble as well as we were at the start of the year and got punished. In saying that though, this is the time to be brave and get on the ball, want to express yourself and win your individual battle.

A message from Mark . . . Today we welcome James and the Olympic team buoyed by a victory over BNU in their last outing, which I’m sure will give them confidence to attack their final run in of games. Olympic have always been a passionate football club and I’m sure they will be fighting for every point. Before you run away to watch that other shaped ball, stay and watch the ressies, Phil has them playing some excellent footie and you will see some of our exciting youngsters in action. Hope you enjoy all today’s games, going to be a bit difficult to shout for the orange team today as 5/6 teams play in orange so get your yelling voices out and show your support for your favourite player, we certainly do appreciate it. Hope to see you all in the club after the game to chew the fat!
