Minnesota vs. Indiana – 2/16/19 POSTGAME NOTES

SERIES, ETC. Today's 84‐63 win was the 162nd all‐time meeting between Minnesota and Indiana (not counting vacated games), with the Hoosiers holding a 95‐67 lead in the series (Gophers lead 46‐35 in Minneapolis). Minnesota's 21‐point win was its largest in Big Ten play since an 89‐67 win versus Rutgers on Dec. 3, 2017. The Gophers snapped a four‐game losing streak and improved to 17‐9 overall and 7‐8 in the Big Ten, while Indiana dropped its 10th game in its last 11 starts to fall to 13‐12 overall and 4‐10 in the B1G. Coach Pitino is 3‐5 all‐time against the Hoosiers. Minnesota now stands at 1,482‐1,108 all‐time / 757‐830 B1G (not counting vacated games). Coach Pitino's sixth‐year record at Minnesota is 107‐ 87, and his seven‐year career mark is 125‐101.

STARTING FIVE Coach Pitino utilized a starting lineup of seniors Jordan Murphy and Dupree McBrayer, junior Amir Coffey, and true freshmen Gabe Kalscheur and . Murphy was in the starting lineup for the 112th consecutive time, while McBrayer made his 86th career start and Coffey made his 77th career start. Kalscheur made his 26th start for the Gophers, while Oturu was in the starting lineup for the 21st time.

THREE‐POINT CLINIC The Gophers put on a clinic from three‐point range, as they knocked down 12‐of‐22 attempts for 54.5 percent. It ties for the third‐most three‐pointers in a Big Ten game in program history. The Gophers made 16 treys versus Michigan State on Feb. 11, 2001, and hit 14 from beyond the arc at Michigan on Feb. 17, 2001. The last time Minnesota had 12 trifectas in a B1G game was versus Iowa on March 7, 2010. True Freshman Gabe Kalscheur was the leading marksman from deep this afternoon, as he canned 6‐of‐8 treys to finish with 20 points. Kalscheur went 7‐of‐12 from three versus Santa Clara. His 75 percent accuracy from long‐range this afternoon ranks only behind Devoe Joseph, who went 7‐of‐8 (.875) at Penn State on Feb. 14, 2009. Amir Coffey tied his career high for the second straight game by making 3‐of‐6 treys.

PROTOTYPICAL MURPHY Jordan Murphy recorded his 18th double‐double of the season (63rd career), as he dominated play with game‐high totals of 23 points and 11 rebounds in 30 minutes. Murphy connected on 7‐of‐11 attempts and made 9‐of‐13 attempts. Murphy now has double‐doubles in eight of his past nine Big Ten games. Five of his rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor, and he added three assists.

MURPHY ON BIG TEN'S ALL‐TIME REBOUNDING CHART Murphy continues to stretch his school‐record rebounding lead, as his 11 rebounds give him 1,219 for his career. Murphy is one of just 14 players in Big Ten history with 1,000 or more rebounds, and he ranks second all‐time. Murphy passed Purdue's Joe Barry Carroll (1,148 rebounds during 1976‐80) for second place on Jan. 27, and Ohio State's Jerry Lucas (1959‐62) is the all‐time leader with 1,411. Murphy is one of just nine players in B1G history to record 1,650+ points and 1,000+ rebounds.

STRONG COFFEY Amir Coffey was among four Gophers players in double‐figures, as he finished with 18 points, a game‐high seven assists, and six rebounds in 34 minutes. Coffey, who leads the Gophers with an average of 16.8 points per game in Big Ten play, made 5‐of‐12 field goals (3‐of‐6 from beyond the arc) and 5‐of‐8 free throws. Coffey leads the Gophers with 22 double‐ digit scoring games this season, including 12 times in 15 Big Ten games.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES AND NUMBERS Minnesota improved to 12‐2 at Williams Arena this season, and 13‐0 when it scores 70 points or more ... the Gophers are 11‐1 when wearing their home White uniforms this season ... today's attendance of 11,639 was the second‐largest figure this season.
