SETNOx PLANTS

Emissions are created when fossil fuels are used for energy and heat generation. Among others, they contain nitrogen oxides and other environmentally harmful substances. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is the most efficient method of reducing these nitrogen oxides. By injecting ammonia into the flue gas flow in the presence of a catalyst, the nitrogen oxides are broken down into atmospheric nitrogen and water. Our expertise and many years of experience guarantee functional and long-lasting solutions for new plants or retrofits, for all types of combustibles, for high-dust or tail-end applications as well as for horizontal or vertical heat recovery steam generators.

Dioxin reduction These catalysts can be used under oxidative conditions to oxidise incompletely burned organic products as dioxin and furan in the flue gas of waste incinerators. Thereby dioxin and furan are destroyed efficiently.

Patented systems To inject and distribute the reagent into the flue gas flow, SET uses the Ammonia Injection System (so-called AIG), an ammonia injection grid with a patented design that achieves very high mixing rates in a confined space.

The result is an almost full NOx conversion at low ammonia slip. Pressure loss is extremely low. It is a decisive advantage, especially for installation in the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) of gas-fuelled power plants with very low emissions as well as for coal fired applications.

RETROFITS Retrofitting of existing old plants for emission reduction and compliance with tighter environmental standards.

Customer-oriented solutions for the optimization of investment and operating costs.

Products SETSorp – FLUE GAS CLEANING

SETSorp In combustion processes, such as the ones in waste-to-energy plants in particular, • Conditioned dry absorption acidic gases or dust-forming particles escape into the atmosphere. Through • 2-stage wet scrubbing multistage cleaning processes, it is possible to reduce the amount of pollutants considerably. By using filters, absorption and adsorption processes as well as SETNOx catalysts, the sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides as well as dust and soot particles • NOx reduction are removed and the quality of the escaping exhaust gas is improved. With the • Dioxin reduction conditioned dry absorption (SETSorp) technology, SET offers an innovative and efficient alternative to conventional methods and ensures compliance with common RETROFITS emission regulations. • Retrofitting of old plants The technology behind conditioned dry absorption (CDA) SNOxTM For efficient separation of acidic pollutants and organic compounds like dioxin and • Key components of SNOX plants furan, SET has improved the semi-dry absorption process. In combination with a • EPC or engineering for high-sulphur downstream fabric filter, it is particularly well suited as a flue gas cleaning system content fuels for waste-to-energy plants. With our advanced SETSorp process, the quench water and calcium hydroxide are brought in separately from one another. Therefore, the process is extremely robust and maintenance friendly. In addition, the SETSorp system only uses a small amount of atomising agent. A special design of the reactor layout and co-current flow optimises the flow pattern to achieve full atomisation and intense mixing of the reagent and flue gas.

Robust and durable quality The CDA process is characterised by its high reduction efficiency of the pollution with low energy demand. Besides the low investment and operating costs, the system is completely wastewater free. In addition, the process design prevents the formation of clumping and blockages. Hence, the system can work with high reliability.

Depending on customer’s wishes, SET plans and delivers complete flue gas cleaning solutions based on wet scrubbing systems.

Services CUSTOMER SUPPORT AFTER

• Operation and maintenance COMPLETION

• Spare Parts Management The objective of after-sales management is to ensure that business relations do not end with the project, but remain throughout the lifetime of a power plant. This • Modernisation and upgrades means that after the start-up of the power plant, SET remains at customer’s side. Our service portfolio includes maintenance and modernisation support for power • Performance improvements plants and industrial facilities. Another target is to support our customers by our worldwide network with fast and comprehensive service and support. From • Emission reduction operation, maintenance and modernisation of the plants through improvement of the performance and reduction of emissions, right up to condition assessment and • Plant condition assessment lifetime costing, SET is your competent partner.

• Lifetime costing

• Catalyst regeneration CATALYST MANAGEMENT AND REGENERATION

Catalysts are one of the expensive parts of a power plant’s DeNOx system and they have a limited lifetime. To reduce maintenance costs and to save the costs for the replacement of catalysts, SET has developed a regeneration process to reverse the ageing of catalysts and to restore their activity. The process can be applied in a mobile regeneration plant operating directly on-site. Therefore, no catalyst transport is necessary at all, thus reducing the downtime of the plant to a minimum. In combination with our sophisticated catalyst management, the operating costs and maintenance expense can be reduced even more.

Benefits Overview: • Applicable to all catalysts types, regardless of supplier and fuel types • No catalyst transport necessary • Minimal plant downtime • Restoration to full catalyst activity
