Hamilton has guided the Eagles into a pair of NCAA Tournaments. In 1977 MSU par­ ticipated in the NCAA South Regional in Miami, Florida while finishing as runnerup in the NCAA Mideast Regional in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1983. Hamilton 's 11 years of experience has been attractive to many high school baseball recruits. The southpaw played for the , Washington Senators, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. He eventually came up with the slow, arching pitch known to many as the 'Folly Floater'. He was a top relief pit­ cher with the Yankees for almost eight seasons and played in two World Series. After retiring from baseball in 1972, Hamilton became manager of the Johnson City Yankees of the Appalachian League in 1973. He also served as pitching coach for the Detroit Tigers in 1975. Hamilton became the sixth baseball coach at MSU in 1976, taking over for John ·sonny' Allen . 7 Dave Emrhein Donnie Kidd Graduate Assistant Team Manager Coach Dave Emrhein begins his first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Eagle baseball team after playing three years of collegiate ball at the . " Dave is a very bright young man and very enthusiastic about starting his coaching career," head coach Steve Hamilton said. " He has a good touch in working with peo­ ple. His expertise is working with catchers and outfielders." Emrhein, a native of Maple Heights, Ohio. lettered and started three years as catcher for the Zips under head coach Dave Fross. The 23-year old majored in secondary education at UA and is seeking his master's degree in the same area at MSU. Emrhein hopes to coach at the college level. A two sport letterman at Chanel High School in Bedford, Ohio, Dave is the son of Bill and Dee Emrhein of Maple Hights, Ohio.

Moran is currently serving on the NCAA's Classification Committee which is responsi­ ble for reviewing certain criteria and re­ quirements for divisional status. Moran came to MSU in 1974 from West Virginia University where he served nine seasons on the Mountaineer's basketball coaching staff, the last five as head coach. Moran began his coaching career in 1950 at Chamberlain Junior High School in Charleston, W.Va. After serving as head basketball coach and coaching numerous other sports at Elkview and Stonewall Jackson High Schools, he became head coach and athletic director at Morris Harvey College, now known as the University of Charleston. He posted a 148-74 career coaching record at Morris Harvey from 1957 through 1965 before moving to WVU. He posted a 205-141 college coaching record and a 27 4-156 total career record. Last year Moran was inducted into the University of Charleston's Sports Hall of Fame. Moran's coaching success did not go unrecognized. He was selected the College Coach of the Year in West Virginia in 1962 and was the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1964. He served as coach of the South squad in the North-South College All-Star basketball game in Erie, Pa. , in 1972. While coaching at Morris Harvey, Moran's teams captured two WVIAC basketball championships and participated in the Na­ tional Association of Athletics National Tour­ nament in Kansas City in 1962 and 1964. His tennis teams at Morris Harvey also won con­ ference titles in 1964 and 1965 and par­ ticipated in the national tournament. Moran was also an outstanding baseball and basketball player at Morris Harvey.
