To avoid an accident please ride carefully. -- When exploring the unsigned trails take a GPS, or map and compass. -- Slip, slop, slap. Drink plenty of water and rest regularly. -- Plan ahead and never ride alone. -- Wear a helmet. -- Keep left and ride within your ability. -- Ride according to track conditions. Be extra careful on rocky and steep sections. -- Carry emergency repair equipment and a mobile phone. -- When on sealed or gravel roads keep to the verge. -- Riding at night is not recommended due to obstacles and disturbance caused to residents. -- Carry a first aid kit and let someone know your plans. -- When riding in remote areas have contingency plans for emergencies and be aware that mobile phone coverage is often unavailable.

Code of Conduct Keeping trails open and the land owners/managers happy depends on you: -- To prevent erosion please stay on the formed tracks and avoid skidding and muddy tracks. -- Unlawfully constructing tracks or modifying roads, tracks or fire trails is strictly prohibited. -- Lighting of fires at any time is strictly prohibited. -- Obey all signage. -- ­ Take all rubbish home or out of the reserve. -- Mountain bikes are not permitted on walking tracks unless the track is signed as a shared/multi-use track. Respect other trail users: -- ­ Control your bicycle. -- ­ Give way to pedestrians and horse riders by stopping and moving to the side of the track. -- To calm horses talk to the horse riders as they walk towards you. -- ­ Smile and say “Hello”. In national parks, conservation parks and forest reserves: -- Mountain biking is permitted on roads and trails (not walking tracks) unless otherwise signed. In state forests: -- Give way to logging trucks. -- Be aware that state forests are commercial forests. For your safety comply with any restricted access or road closed signs at all times. -- Mountain biking along fire trails and tracks is permitted unless otherwise signed. -- Comply with all signage and road rules. -- Be aware that forest roads could be closed during periods of adverse weather conditions or when public access presents an unacceptable safety risk (such as times of high fire danger). -- At all times, day and night, individuals must be aware of logging trucks and commercial forestry machinery. 5 Beginner Tracks

All beginner tracks are signposted and suitable for family rides.

Ewen Maddock Dam, Mooloolah Trail Head Location: Maddock Park Recreation Area, 1 177 Mooloolah Connection Road, Mooloolah. UBD Map Ref: Map 97, F4 4.5 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.778255 Long. 153.001626 Highlights: Enjoy safe, wide tracks suitable for the whole family. The track out from the picnic area covers some hilly ground through Turpentine trees, Brush Box and Pink Bloodwood, and is a good beginner ride with a return trip of approximately 9km. There is also a designated swimming area for a swim in the dam.

2 Landsborough

Trail Head Location: north; Cnr Paget St and Dorson Dr, Mooloolah Valley South; Cnr Cunningham Ave and Beech Rd, Landsborough. UBD Map Ref: north; Map 96, F2 South; Map 96, F12 GPS Co-ordinate: north; Lat. -26.771706 Long.152.963623 South; Lat. -26.795534 Long.152.964888 Highlights: The short 3.2km rail trail follows the old Brisbane-Cairns railway line between Landsborough and Mooloolah, abandoned in 1931. Ideal for the family, the trail incorporates a 100m tunnel constructed in 1890 that is now home to a bat colony. There are also three other signed track circuits located within the adjoining Dularcha National Park. An option is to leave your car at the Landsborough railway station, catch a train to Mooloolah railway station (5 mins) and ride back through the Dularcha National Park to your car.

5 Mapleton National Park Mapleton

Trail Head Location: Mapleton Forest day-use area, Mapleton Forest Rd, Mapleton. UBD Map Ref: Map 54, E4 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.605176 Long. 152.855703 Highlights: There are currently four multi-use circuits available centred on the Mapleton day-use area (note: these may be rationalised in the future). Located in the Mapleton Forest Reserve where tall trees, ferns, birds and picturesque mountain scenery delight your senses, this is a great place to explore and find your groove with big climbs and descents, cascades and waterfalls. 8 Cooroora Trail, Noosa Trail Network (Trail 5), Cooran - Pomona Trail Head Location: north; Pioneer Park, King St, 6 Cooran. South; Noosa Showgrounds, Exhibition St Pomona. 9.0 UBD Map Ref: north; Map 4, K18 South; Map 4, F10 GPS Co-ordinate: North; Lat. -26.334971 Long. 152.822509 South; Lat. -26.360435 Long. 152.857243 Highlights: This relatively flat trail with a few challenging sections provides some wonderful views of Mt Cooroora and Mt Cooran, and is largely located in Tuchekoi National Park. The trail passes directly beneath Mt Cooroora and crosses the walking-only track to the top. The trail links the villages of Pomona and Cooran. West Cooroy State Forest, Belli Park Trail Head Location: Park at the intersection 7 of Wellington Rd and Skyring Creek Rd, Belli Park. UBD Map Ref: Map 33, M2 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.504172 Long. 152.809632 Highlights: West Cooroy State Forest has a range of forestry tracks through open eucalypt forest and rainforest patches. A great place to spend a quiet couple of hours exploring. The forest is home to koalas and a variety of birds including Little Friarbirds, Cicadabirds, Rose-crowned Fruit Doves and Spectacled Monarchs.

Point Glorious Lookout, Mapleton National Park

Trail Head Location: Belli Creek Park, 8 Eumundi - Kenilworth Rd, Belli Park. UBD Map Ref: Map 34, G1 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.499420 Long .152.863442 Directions: From Belli Creek Park follow the signed trail behind the amenities block. At the first T-intersection turn right onto the steep uphill rocky rough track. When you get to Buckby Rd (a formed gravel road) turn left and follow the signs to Point Glorious Lookout and ride approx. 45 minutes of steep uphill. There is vehicular access to the lookout, so it is possible to arrange a shuttle. A 4WD is recommended. Highlights: Point Glorious is located approx. 400m above sea level and provides spectacular views of the coast and hinterland. Scribbly gums and grass trees grow around the lookout. This site can also be accessed from Cooloolabin Dam.

Eumundi Conservation Park, Verrierdale Trail Head Location: Eumundi Noosa Rd, Verrierdale 9 (park next to the car wreckers). UBD Map Ref: Map 26, J11 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.475148 Long. 152.977077 Highlights: Forestry tracks leading off to the south east provide a range of small and medium distance circuits. Some drainage line crossings are rough and care should be taken. The area was originally logged and then used for grazing cattle. Look out for the old cattle yards and dam located at the four ways intersection.

Cooloolabin Dam, Mapleton National Park 10 Trail Head Location: Cooloolabin Dam picnic area, Cooloolabin Rd, Cooloolabin. 12.5 UBD Map Ref: Map 34, K13 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat .-26.55326 Long. 152.880647 Directions: Good scenic loop, approx. 12.5km. From the picnic area ride along Cooloolabin Rd, turn left into Buckby Rd, (note; there is a singletrack trail beside Buckby Rd) then left into Blackall Rd (detour up to Point Glorious if you feel fit). At the end of Blackall Rd continue along the main track (there are many smaller tracks leading off it) and descend down the valley until you reach Cooloolabin Rd on your left. Follow it back to the picnic area.

Glass House Mountains Circuit, Glass House Mountains 11 Trail Head Location: Glass House Mountains township UBD Map Ref: Map 116, D18 Directions: Download the map of the suggested circuit from www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au Highlights: The domes, cones and spires of the Glass House Mountains are volcanic plugs formed by volcanic activity around 26 million years ago. They are fascinating to look at and provide a unique backdrop for this relatively easy 25km circuit, with just one short sharp steep climb up to the Glass House Mountains Lookout where breathtaking (literally after the hill climb!) views of the Glass House Mountains are provided. The ride takes you between Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum and Mt Beerburrum and a sealed road takes you past Mt Beerwah, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Ngungun. Enjoy some end-of-ride refreshments at the delightful Glass House Mountains township. 11 Intermediate Tracks

12 Tewantin

Trail Head Location: Park at Wooroi Day Use area located off Cooroy-Noosa Rd, Tewantin. UBD Map Ref: Map 7, F17 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.400046 Long. 153.009347 Directions: Most riders enjoy an easy climb up Gyndier Dr before descending back to the bottom via one of the many singletrack or multi-track trails that are spread throughout the forest. Highlights: A classic Tewantin ride is the IMBA singletrack which starts midway up Gyndier Dr and winds its way to the bottom. There are 10 singletracks ranging from 850m to 1.7km in length. Ride through a mixture of rainforest, open eucalypt forest and wallum remnants, which are protected in this hilly near-coastal forest. Noosa Showgrounds facilities include camping spaces, toilets and showers. The southern end of the trail, Kookaburra Park, has toilets and picnic tables. 12 Intermediate Tracks

Tablelands Circuit, Noosa Trail Network (Trail 3), Cooran Trail Head Location: James McKane Memorial 14 Lookout, Tablelands Rd, Cooran. UBD Map Ref: Map 4, (follow Tablelands Road 12 to lookout). GPS Co-ordinate: Lat -26.304195 Long. 152.835894 Highlights: Enjoy the views of the Noosa Hinterland countryside. This trail is best completed in a clockwise direction so you can enjoy the downhill section through Woondum National Park. Along this track you will pass through lush rainforest and tall, open Eucalypt forests.

Trail 1, 2, 3 and 4, Noosa Trail Network, Kin Kin Trail Head Location: Kin Kin Sport and Recreation 15 Club, Main St Kin Kin. GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.263187 Long. 152.874835 Highlights: These four trails can be started at Kin Kin and weave through the countryside across paddocks, along quiet country lanes, through state forests and national parks. Before attempting these rides, obtain a copy of the Noosa Trail Network brochure. 14 Intermediate Tracks Advanced Tracks

Advanced tracks are suited to riders with considerable mountain bike riding experience. Majority of tracks are unsigned and a GPS or map and compass are recommended.

Bellthorpe National Park Circuit, Stony Creek Trail Head Location: Stony Creek day use area, 16 Fletcher Road, Stony Creek. UBD Map Ref: Brisbane UBD Map 32, M5 Directions: For a 40km ride, turn right from the day-use area onto Fletcher Rd, then right again onto Stony Creek Rd until you enter . Continue on a dirt road until you reach Bellthorpe West Rd. Turn right and look for a sign warning that the road is closed at 3:15pm on weekdays. At the sign take the forestry fire road on the right called Lone Tree Break. It is steep and rough at the top and then levels out back to the day use area. For a shorter ride, turn right off Stony Creek Rd onto Branch Creek Rd to head back to the day-use area. Enjoy a swim in Stony Creek on your return.

Brisbane UBD Map Ref: Map 34, H18 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.937418 Long. 152.869630 Directions: From Old Gympie Rd, head west along the Beerburrum Woodford Road for 8kms, to the base of Hennessey’s Hill. The track is on the left hand side of the road as you climb the hill. Turn left just after passing under the overhead powerlines and follow the track back under the power lines. This leads you to the top of a 1.2km downhill track. Highlights: A fun, moderately graded downhill track, with jumps, bermed corners and rock gardens. The adjoining Beerburrum Woodford bitumen road can be used to shuttle bikes and riders. Full face helmet and protective gear are mandatory. 15 Advanced Tracks

18 Parklands Conservation Park Parklands

Trail Head Location: Parklands Conservation Park, Radar Hill Rd, Parklands. UBD Map Ref: Map 56, J4 GPS Co-ordinate: Lat. -26.595801 Long. 152.972462 Highlights: Enjoy a range of challenging technical rides within the eucalypt forest and subtropical rainforest. Choose to ride any of the four circuit loops or enjoy the single track (note: QPWS are currently in the process of signing the single tracks). There are some big climbs. Be careful of the slippery rocks on the creek crossings. Radar Hill is clearly visible from most sides of the forest with the large red and white towers dominating the landscape.

Bikes are permitted on trains anytime except between the following times on Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays): -- 7am to 9.30am (travelling towards the city) -- 3pm to 6.30pm (travelling away from the city) -- You can’t travel with a bike if your train passes through Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Central, Roma Street or South Brisbane stations between 7am to 9am or 3.30pm to 7pm. -- If you have a fold-up bike you can travel at any time provided it fits in a carry bag no bigger than 80x60x36cm.
