Gargždai Gargždai Gargždai is an old Samogitian settlement near the river in western Lithuania

It is the administrative centre of Klaipơda district (since 1952) and the capital of Klaipơda district municipality (since 1999)

The first time Gargždai in historical records was mentioned in 1253 This summer we celebrated 755 years anniversary

On December 2,1997 President approved the official coat of arms of Garždai by passing the Law • • • • Population is about 16 thousand inhabitants

Gargždai • The major companies are „Mars”(pet food production),„Hidrostatyba”(construction works),„Gargždǐ Mida”(production of soft roof covering),„Polasta”(production of plastic windows), „Agrovet”(meat production and processing). • Oil production is a major industry in Klaipơda district. • „Geonafta”, Lithuanian-Danish joint stock company„Minijos nafta” and „Manifoldas”operate licenced oil fields in Klaipơda district

This school year our school is attended by 1099 pupils; • 12 classes of primary school (1st -4th grades, 309 pupils); • 14 classes of basic stage I school ( 5th -8th grades, 366 pupils); • 8 classes of basic stage II school (9th - 10th grades, 215 pupils); • 5 classes of secondary school (11th - 12th grades, 124 pupils); • Our school is attended by 54 adults in the evenings; • There two more divisions of primary school in neighboring villages Jakai and Gobergiške (31 pupil);
