Civil Service Council elections Jacob DeGeal On March 16, the Civil Service Council began seeking nominations for new council representatives. You may self-nom- inate or nominate someone within your group. Keep an eye on the council website for listings of each group, how many seats are open for this election, who is eligible to be nominated, and where to find the form to make your nomination. Annual campuswide food drive kicks off April 1 Jacob DeGeal The Civil Service Council’;s annual food drive begins April 1 and runs through April 30. Nonperishable, nonoutdated food items will be collected and donated to a local food pantry in Bloomington-Normal. Items most needed are canned meats, canned fruits, canned vegetables, boxed dinners such as Hamburger Helper, macaroni and cheese, Ramen noodles, peanut butter, rice—regular or quick cook, cereal—hot or cold, sugar, flour, cornmeal, cooking oil or vegetable oil. To donate, find a red bin closest to you. Locations for bins and this year’s charity will be announced in the next issue of OpenLine. Fall tuition waiver requests due in June Jacob DeGeal Faculty and staff who have a dependent child attending Illinois State University should submit a tuition waiver appli- cation to the Human Resources Office by June 15. This will ensure that a credit is received on the first tuition bill. The Interinstitutional Tuition Waiver Application is located on the Human Resources website. Only one application needs to be filed each academic year. Bloomington-Normal Day at Wrigley Field, July 11 Jacob DeGeal This year the Civil Service Council will be selling tickets to Bloomington-Normal Day at Wrigley Field. The Cubs will be playing the White Sox at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, July 11. The group of seats will be in the terrace reserve section in left field. There will be no bus available; transportation to Wrigley will be on your own. Tickets are $52.64 a piece. If you are interested in purchasing tickets for this game, please contact Amanda Smith at [email protected].

Illinois State night at the Normal CornBelters, June 4 Zach Parcell The Illinois State University Alumni Association, Department of Agriculture, and Office of the Provost/Summer Session would like you to bring your family out to a CornBelters game this summer. Join fellow alumni, friends, faculty, Summer Session students, Reggie Redbird, and Corny for fun and socializing. Pregame cookout When: 5–6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4 Where: Illinois State’;s Horticulture Center, Raab Road Enjoy the pregame cookout at the Horticulture Center located directly across from the Corn Crib. The event fee of $5 includes a burger/hot dog/veggie burger, chips, cookies, ice cream and beverages. Each guest will receive one drink ticket and one ice cream ticket with each paid registration. A cash bar will also be available. CornBelters game When: 7 p.m. Thursday, June 4 Where: Corn Crib, Raab Road The CornBelters will take on Windy City Thunderbolts at the Corn Crib. 2015 Civil Service Council Awards Jacob DeGeal Congratulations to the 2015 Civil Service Award winners. The winners of the Administrative/Professional Council (A/P) and Civil Service Council awards were announced at this year’s Founders Day.

Civil Service Distinguished Service Awards Maureen Peel, Office of the Vice President for Finance and Planning A longtime employee, Peel has maintained a positive, bubbly outlook that is enjoyed by her co-workers. Maureen has served the Civil Service community well, working on countless projects and committees to raise awareness on campus. Peel’;s drive and can- do attitude is admired by those who know her.

Lyndsie Schlink, University Marketing and Communications Every picture tells a story. Those stories are the continuing history of Illinois State University. Schlink tirelessly attends hundreds of university events each year to capture the moment in time through photography. Her work creates new images that become a lasting part of the tapestry of Illinois State.

Civil Service Esprit de Corps Award Darrell Elkin, Facilities Management Elkin exemplifies boundless compassion for the workers in the building he services. He has been known to walk employees to their cars at night and leave notes of concern for employees, while always giving his all to the job at hand. He goes over the top by sur- prising Turner staff, faculty, and students with seasonal displays.
