School Admissions Thank you to all those you have applied for a key worker childcare place during the Easter period. The second application round has now closed. Please continue to check the Council’s website over the next 2 weeks for more information relating to admission arrangements for the week commencing 20th April 2020. If you have already applied for a school hub childcare place, there is no need to reapply when the next admission round opens. Existing applicants will be contacted via email.

The following 6 re-purposed hubs located within the largest towns throughout the County Borough, will be operating between the hours of 8am – 6pm during the Easter period (including bank holidays):

1. Learning - Tillery Street Campus will be hosting provision on behalf of the Abertillery cluster (inclusive of service provision for the following schools: all ALC Campuses – primary and secondary, Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Helyg, ’s Primary School and Sofrydd Primary School).

2. Brynmawr Foundation School and Blaen y Cwm Primary School will be hosting provision for the Brynmawr cluster (inclusive of service provision for the following schools: St Mary’s Church in Primary School, St Mary’s Roman Catholic School, Coed y Garn Primary School and Ystruth Primary School).

3. Ebbw Fawr Learning Community Secondary Campus will be hosting provision on behalf the cluster (inclusive of service provision for the following schools: the EFLC Primary Campus, All Saints Roman Catholic Primary School, Beaufort Hill Primary School, Cwm Primary School, Glyncoed Primary School, Rhos y Fedwen Primary School and Willowtown Primary School).

4. Comprehensive School and Glanhowy Primary School will be hosting provision on behalf of the Tredegar/ cluster (inclusive of service provision for the following schools: Bryn Bach Primary School, Deighton Primary School, Georgetown Primary School, and St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School).

This model has been developed in consideration of the latest guidance from Public Health Wales and Welsh Government, and inconsideration of pupil and staff safety. Calling all Key Worker Parents/Carers…We Need Your Views!

Blaenau Gwent Council is looking to review and assess the demand for childcare provision over the coming weeks, including the timings and availability of childcare options via school hubs and childcare settings. In doing so, we would greatly appreciate the views of key worker parents/carers in relation to both current and future childcare provision. Please could you take a few minutes to complete the following anonymous survey, highlighting how childcare hubs could support you as a frontline key worker over the coming weeks. This information will then be used in line with local and national guidance etc., in order to inform future school hub and wider childcare provision.
