Minnesota Wild Recalls Goaltender Niklas Svedberg from Iowa

For Immediate Release Contacts: Aaron Sickman (651) 602-6009 Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 Carly Peters (651) 602-6034 Megan Kogut (651) 312-3439 MINNESOTA WILD RECALLS GOALTENDER NIKLAS SVEDBERG FROM IOWA SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender Niklas Svedberg from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) under emergency conditions. Svedberg, 28 (9/4/89), is 3-6-1 with a 2.84 goals-against average (GAA), a .904 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 10 games with Iowa this season. He posted a 14-17-12 record with a 2.99 GAA, a .897 SV% and one shutout in 48 games with Salavat Yulaev in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in 2016-17. The 6-foot-1, 168- pound native of Sollentuna, Sweden, posted a 29-19-3 record with a 2.37 GAA, a .916 SV% and five shutouts in 53 games with Salavat Yulaev in 2015-16 - his first season in the KHL. Svedberg is 8-5-1 with a 2.31 GAA, a .920 SV% and two shutouts in 19 career NHL games, played in parts of two seasons with Boston (2013-15). He was signed to a one-year, two-way contract by Minnesota on July 1, 2017 and will wear sweater No. 35 with the Wild. Hutchinson has a 14-2-4 record with the Moose this season after being assigned there by the Jets prior to the start of the NHL regular season. He leads the AHL with a .942 save percentage and boasts the third-best goals against average, at 1.94. Lemieux joined the Jets on Jan. 8 and played one game after an injury to forward Shawn Matthias — a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild Saturday night. The 21-year-old has played in eight games with Winnipeg this year and has one goal. Roslovic, 20, was recalled by the Jets on Dec. 31 and played in four games during his stint. He returns to the AHL seventh in league scoring with 35 points (15G, 20A) in 31 games with the Moose.

GRIFFITH SCORES TWICE IN 4-2 P-BRUINS WIN OVER MANCHESTER PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence Bruins scored three goals in the first-- two on the same power play-- and topped the Manchester Monarchs on Friday night at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Seth Griffith scored twice. It was an atypical first period for both teams, which worked in Providence’s favor. The Bruins scored three times, and there were two fights in the frame. Ryan Spooner scored his third goal in the last two games when he weaved through the slot after a hustle play from Justin Florek to set it all up at 8:56. The P-Bruins failed to convert on their first power play, but were back on the man advantage only eight seconds later. Andrew Crescenzi got a kneeing major when he hit Joe Morrow (who left the game and did not return), and the home team capitalized twice. Griffith scored the team’s first goal on the power play, burying a Chris Casto rebound that came from the opposite side of the zone at 17:05. Ethan Werek scored his first goal of the calendar year after missing nine games, putting the Bruins up 3-0. Like Griffith, he also scored on a rebound from the opposite side of a previous Providence bid (from Brian Ferlin, who forced a turnover). In the middle stanza, Providence killed off 1:40 of two different 5-on-3 stretches, once in the first three minutes of the period, and another 12 minutes later. Manchester was able to outshoot the home team 16-6 in the period, but didn’t generate many quality scoring chances.
