After all, three of his prior appearances here have been selected by our readers as Best National Concert of the year (in 2005, 2002 and 1999), and next weekend’s show at the EmbassyI was all but sold out last we checked. So making him our cover feature this week was a pretty easy choice. Plus, the promoter provided some pretty cool art, so there you go. You can read Mark Hunter’s cover story on page 2 – and this being something of a Mark Hunter special edition, you can also read his features on IPFW’s Community Arts Academy on page 4 and his profile on the band Triple Play on page 5. Just to break things up, Darren Hunt’s got a piece on The Brass Rail on page 6. There is plenty more: a review on the self-titled debut EP from the cleverly named Jafunkae in our Spins section, director Phillip Colglazier’s notes on the Civic’s play- wright festival winners on 17, a Fare Warning update on TRF on page 19, Lee and Locke on movies and lots of other stuff. But we opened this space with a mention of the Readers Poll, and since we’ve been getting lots of questions about that very topic lately, here’s whatzup on that. Starting next week we’ll be doing what we’re calling a weekly “slow reveal” of the winners. The Favorite TV and Radio Personalities will be revealed next week, the Best Visual Artist and Art Gallery the week after that and so on until mid-September when we reveal the Performer of the Year and the Best Overall Club.     Northwest Allen County Schools Guidelines for School Delays and Closings Due to Inclement Weather Beliefs Weather conditions are both variable and potentially extreme in Northeast Indiana; the safety of children will guide decisions regarding delaying or closing. Concrete rules do not exist in making decisions regarding variable and extreme weather; however, these guidelines will serve as a reference for Northwest Allen County Schools (NACS). NACS believes our community expects schools to be open and provide educational services as well as supervision and other services, such as meals, to its students. NACS believes all parents are committed to keeping children safe and these parents will dress their children appropriately for the existing weather conditions when sending their children to school. NACS recognizes that it is first and foremost a parental decision as to whether or not a child should attend school on inclement weather days. NACS respects the parent’s determination regarding her/his child’s attendance at school during inclement weather. If school is open, or delayed, because of inclement weather, the school will respect the parent’s decision to keep their child at home. In terms of talent, possibly none. The difference is one of intimacy. We gaze up at our favorite paintings, gingerly circumnavigate the greatest sculptures—we literally put them on pedestals. But we hug our favorite books and records, and kiss their covers, and a particular typeface will forever conjure the road-sign at the turnoff to the summer lodge, that last turn that led to nirvana, the last week of August, the summer after tenth grade. I don’t want to meet the artist (the painter, the sculptor, the violin prodigy, the rock star), for if I did, she’d probably disappoint, and if she didn’t, I’d be tongue-tied. But the graphic designer? I want to clasp him to me, and ask how he did it, and say Thank you. No need to invite George Corsillo into your living room and offer him a nip or a puff—he’s been there all along. He’s been in your album crate since the early 1980s, showcasing John and Olivia at their Grease-iest, Luther Vandross at his sultriest, Benatar, Mellencamp, Yoko. In his toolbox, George always brings his analog chops, learned with the legendary book-jacket designer Paul Bacon; nobody has that facility with typeface or silkscreening who grew up only on computers. He brings, too, a party- down fierceness, a willingness to get his hands dirty (on the Grease jacket, those are George’s teeth marks on the pencil), a scavenger’s resourcefulness (the legs on the Tilt cover? his wife, Susan’s), and a tactful deference to the artist, masking, as needed, Vandross’s girth or Benatar’s pregnancy.

The data have been obtained and XML-annotated using the Python program- ming language and the libraries lyricsmas- ter/yattag. The corpus has been preprocessed and basic statistical data have been gener- ated by the XSL transformation. The diacritic restoration has been carried out in the Slovo Majstor and LeXimir tools (the latter appli- cation has also been used for generating the frequency analysis). The extraction of socio- cultural topics has been performed using the Unitex software, whereas the prevailing top- ics have been visualised with the TreeCloud software.
