  • Efisio Martyr: a Saint Against the Baroque Plague in Cagliari (17Th Century)
ABSTRACT The article analyzes the baroque construction of the cult of San Efisio, a figure of the Sardinian pantheon who has a rather insignificant presence until the outbreak of the plague that strucked Sardinia in the mid-seventeenth century. A saint to whom, still today in Cagliari, the most important and sumptuous celebration of the island is dedicated, being object of a great popular veneration by the faithful coming from all Sardinian provinces.

1.) What was the original name of the Pittsburgh Steelers? B. The Pirates The Pittsburgh football franchise was founded by Art Rooney on July 7, 1933. So the professional football team was originally called the Pittsburgh Pirates. 2.) How many Pittsburgh Steelers have had their picture on a Wheaties Box? C. 13 Since Wheaties boxes have started featuring professional athletes and other famous people, 13 Steelers have had their pictures on the box. Richardson/ Denver Post “Imagine Woodstock with all of the good and none of the bad… It was an event of more than 100,000 young people that changed society, but there was no marijuana; no beer bottles on the ground.” –Sister Mary Ann Walsh, RSM, communications director for World Youth Day Denver ——- Looking back to 1993: The third visit of Pope Saint John Paul II to the United States (not counting two flight layovers in Alaska) was held in Denver for the 1993 World Youth Day (August 10-15, 1993). The Archdiocese of Denver, under the leadership of then Archbishop J. Francis Stafford, hosted this historic event. This marked the eighth WYD, which was started by Pope John Paul II in 1986 in Rome. Denver’s event was the first World Youth Day to be held in North America, as well as in an English-speaking nation. Pope John Paul II initiated plans for World Youth Day in 1984, with the first celebration in 1986. The Denver event was the eighth celebration and the first to become an international media sensation.
