The answers I have given to these questions are based on the many years of experience I have gained by keeping and breeding these wonderful little fishes, and are meant as a guide rather than the rule. If you’re squeamish about cutting up live earthworms (yuck again) and watching them wriggle, you can kill them first by dipping them in boiling water for 10 seconds. Don’t forget to cool them down before feeding them to your fish. But I think fish really enjoy wrestling with a live earthworm; it’s all part of the fun of catching and eating them. Yum!
