The parish observed our patron saint's feast day with the celebration of Mass at 8:30am and 5:30pm. The St. Patrick Novena and the Breastplate Prayer of St. Patrick were read aloud. Our own St. Patrick Himself (Dan Daly) was at the end of the rainbow to greet guests in their best green as they departed. A not-so-wee lass distributed treasure from a Pot o'Gold! Fifty-$1 gold coins (courtesy of Hills Bank & Trust), 50-Free Shake certificates (courtesy of O'Brien Family McDonald's) and 25-$1 Lucky Green Lottery tickets and 20-$2 bills (both courtesy of Anonymous Donor) were given away! Everyone felt blessed with the Luck o' the Irish. For those who remained at home, Fr. Sia offered a St. Patrick's Day Prayer Service on YouTube. We look forward to gathering as a parish in 2022 to celebrate our patron saint. ~ submitted by Cheryl Schropp

The Buildings and Grounds committee held their annual spring clean-up for the parish on Saturday, March 27th. The four charities are the CommUnity Crisis Center, Shelter House, The Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP), and Dream City. Easter baskets filled with eggs that have a slip of paper with a need for one of these charities are in the narthex. Envelopes for monetary donations are also available. Labeled bins on the far side of the narthex are for drop-off of donated items. Items can also be dropped off at Regina in the Events Center concession stand Monday-Friday between 7:30-8:10am. There is also a Sign Up Genius list available from Regina, if you prefer to select a specific item or items to donate: https:// www.signupgenius.com/go/8050c4faea723a6fe3-easter. Please prayerfully consider helping those in need this Easter season, which is a time for new life, both in our hearts and in the lives of those seeking new beginnings in their own lives or the lives of their families. Thank you for your generosity! Best Regards, Alison Dockery-Jackson 2 First Holy Communion 2021 First Communion was celebrated at each Mass on the weekend of April 24th and 25th. 3 Elementary Youth Group (3rd-6th grade) The Elementary Youth Group combined an Easter-season egg hunt (since the Church celebrates Easter for 50 days!) with a May crowning on Saturday, May 1st before the 4:30pm Mass. Kids in 3rd-6th grade and their siblings searched for candy-filled eggs hidden around the parish grounds. Next, holding flowers the children had brought from home, we processed to the Mary garden while singing “Immaculate Mary” and concluded in prayer around the statue. The EYG now has a Facebook group for parents, as a way to connect between gatherings! Search for it under “St Patrick’s Elementary Youth Group Families” and request to join, or email [email protected] to receive an invitation. Rooted: Junior High & High School Youth Group The Junior High/High School youth group has a new name, Rooted, which comes from the idea of being rooted in Christ and in His love (Ephesians 3:16-19). We also now have a website: www.wearerooted.net. Check it out! During Lent we had a video-based Bible study on Psalm 84. Each week a new short video created by youth group coordinator Sofia Livorsi was posted on the Rooted website along with related song links and other materials. The videos are also available on the parish YouTube channel. On March 2nd, students, parents, and youth ministry volunteers worked together to help the nonprofit group Houses Into Homes deliver furniture and other items to people transitioning out of homelessness. During January-April, we had a winter book club that met virtually once a month on Zoom, reading Catholic young adult/teen fiction. Eight students and five parents participated, and for our April book discussion we were joined by the author of the book, Claudia Cangilla McAdam, for a presentation and Q&A. At our May 2nd meeting, a team of students from the University of “invaded” our youth group and talked with us about their experiences of being Catholic in college. Coming up for JH & HS Youth Group this summer —A couple of Youth Adoration Nights where we attend the parish’s Adoration time on a Thursday 6:30-7:00pm, meeting briefly beforehand to catch up and share prayer requests. —Two service activities: preparing Free Lunch freezer meals and helping at the IC Community Food Bank. —Two “Holy Hikes”… these will be nature walks someplace a little further outside the city, with breaks at scenic spots for group Bible readings and some personal quiet time. —Lector training sessions for JH/HS youth who would like to use their gifts of speaking, drama, etc. by serving as lectors at weekend Masses… this is a chance to ease into it by practicing in a smaller group setting first, with coaching from some of the adult lectors. Stay after the 4:30pm Mass on any of the following Saturdays: 6/12, 6/26, 7/10, 7/24. VBS NEWS Dear VBS Families, HAPPY EASTER! We pray your family remains in good health. With Spring Break over and summer fast ap- proaching, we know many families are making plans for warm weather activities. We will not be able to offer Vacation Bible School this year. We realize that many children have been attending school and other activities in-person. However, our parish does not have the capabilities to follow health protocol as required for VBS. It is a disappointment for many—parish staff, VBS volunteers, and families of youth in pre-K thru 6th grade. But, we remain vigilant in keeping everyone safe. We look forward to a fun and faith-filled VBS in 2022 and pray that your family will participate. May your fam- ily remain safe and healthy as you enjoy fun adventures in the days to come! Please pass on this information to friends and family, and feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. Blessings, Friends! Cheryl Schropp, VBS Director 4 Outside "Way of the Cross"

On Palm Sunday the Outside “Way of the Cross” took place at 4:30pm. We began Holy Week with this meaningful and prayerful gathering outside the church. Music set the somber tone as we journeyed at the church front steps. Parish groups presented and lead each station as we walked to the last station in the Mary Garden.
