General A r e a Põõsaspea – Hanko line to Bay of Narva laht D e s c r i p t i o n well-indented coastline is intersected with relatively deep bays the coast is framed with frequent cliffs rocky and shallow beach, several short stretches of sandy beaches varied bottom sediments shallow offshore bank is predominantly covered with cobblers and boulders C u r r e n t s surface current is counterclockwse water level rise due to W-driven winds and fall due to E-driven winds S a l i n i t y surface 6 ‰ in W part, surface 2 ‰ in E part W a v e s with WSW strong winds the significant wave height in the open part may reach to 6 m, in E-part up to 5 m swell is short-term surges of storm generated waves occur along the axis of the Gulf even if the wind direction against the axis is 30°- 40°
