Dawn Stover, SFA master horticulturist, will present a Gardening 101 seminar for parents to give them the information and confidence needed to start a small backyard garden. Topics covered will include site location, soil amend- ments, raised bed options, what and when to plant, harvesting, and fun gardening ideas for the kids. While the adults are learning gardening ba- sics, the children will do hands-on gardening activities with the SFA Nacogdoches Naturally staff. During the second part of the morning, families will come together for a veggie taste sampler and an opportunity to plant a take- home project. In addition, a limited number of cool season plants will be available for purchase by participants. Weather permitting, the event will conclude with a short tour of the vegetable and herb sections of the SFA Arboretum gar- den.
