ABOUT THE MASTER IN CHINA STUDIES (MCS) ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY In 2008, Zhejiang University became the first university in China to grant a master’s degree in China Studies that, for the last decade, has graduated more than 460 students from 53 countries as Masters of China Studies. The MCS was based on the idea on offering education to foreign students that could specialize themselves in China while residing in China. The success of this MA-program later prompted the other highest-ranking universities in China to follow suit in graduating foreigners specialized in China.

Zhejiang University’s MCS program is now an integrated part of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences that also offers the undergraduate program, Philosophy, Mathematics & Economics (PME). The MCS and PME programs operate closely with the Program in Innovation Entrepreneurship & Global Leadership (PIEGL) from Zhejiang University’s School of Management. To create a better learning environment, staff and students, from these three programs, are highly engaged with each other in social and academic activities.
