The John A. Alario Sr. Event Center at the Bayou Segnette Sports Complex is a multipurpose facility located on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish in Westwego, La. The Alario Center is designed to host athletic events, trade shows, concerts, graduations and other events and has served as the Hornets’ practice facility every season the team has been in New Orleans. With the recent completion of the new Hall C expansion, the Center now can offer basketball tournaments up to six hardwood courts under one roof. The Alario Center can also accommodate nearly 3,000 theater-style seats or two hundred 10x10 trade show booths. The new addition increased the size of the facility from 77,000-square feet to 107,000-square feet. The Alario Center also has three 1,500-square foot meeting rooms and a boardroom. The Bayou Segnette Sports Complex grounds are ideal for hosting festivals and outdoor events. The final component of the Bayou Segnette Sports Complex is Segnette Field, a state-of-the-art baseball stadium, which opened in May of 2002. For 24 years, Hugo the Hornet has delighted fans with his daring acrobatics and innovative comic routines to become one of the most beloved and recognizable mascots in the NBA.

Hugo is known to entertain fans with any one of his three identities. As Hugo the Hornet, he is a crowd-favorite and interacts with fans both young and old. As Air Hugo, an inflated version of the mascot, he amuses the Hornet faithful with his unique style of dancing. And as Super Hugo, he amazes the crowd with gravity-defying dunks such as the “Flip Dunk,” the “Helmet Dunk” and the famous “Bug on the Windshield Dunk,” which helped him become a three-time NBA Mascot Slam Dunk Champion.

While Hugo is found at all Hornets home games during the season, he also makes more than 200 appearances every year for charities, fundraisers and other special events. The lovable bug also spends a great deal of his spare time visiting hospitals, schools and nursing homes.

In June, Hugo traveled to Indonesia to participate in NBA Madness where he interacted with local NBA fans, showed off his dunking skills as Super Hugo and even rode an elephant! The Stingers Junior Hip-Hop dance squad is made up of 20 talented boys and girls between the ages of seven and 12 who perform fast-paced routines to hip-hop and Top 40 hits.
