A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square northerly of and between numbered locations 71K and 71 k as shown on Sheet 19 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the installation of the name of Gwyneth Paltrow at 6931 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce ofthe Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on December 13, 2010.

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk ofFame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk ofFame the name of Gwyneth Paltrow. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11 :30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23".

GWYNETH PALTROW Biography

A Hollywood legend in the making, Gwyneth Paltrow has defied the odds by remaining one of today's most

prolific and celebrated actors in the ever-changing film industry. A testament to her undeniable talent, her role in

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE catapulted her into awards stardom with Best Actress honors at the Golden Globes, Screen

Paltrow made her directorial debut, co-writing and co-directing DEALBREAKERS, a short film she directed

with her friend Mary Wigmore.

In May 2005 Paltrow entered into a multi-year contract with Estee Lauder Brand. Since the announcement

oh her contract with the brand, Paltrow has appeared in global print and television advertising campaigns for Pleasures

and Pure White Linen fragrances . In fall 2006 Estee Lauder introduced a new PLEASURES BY GWYNETH

PALTROW limited edition collection inspired by her favorite pampering rituals.

This spring, Paltrow will publish her debut cookbook entitled MY FATHER'S DAUGTHER and continues to

develop her passion project GOOP .com. She first established her credibility in the culinary field when she co-wrote Spain,

A Culinary Road Trip with acclanned chef, Mario Batali.

Born in Los Angeles where she spent the first eleven years of her life, Paltrow stems &om a very close-knit family

deeply entrenched in the entertainment industry. Her father, Bruce Paltrow was a highly successful producer ("St.

Elsewhere", "The White Shadow") and her mother is the award-winning actress Blythe Danner. Paltrow and her

younger brothe1· Jake spent their early childhood in Los Angeles where she attended St. Augustine by the Sea (now known

as Crossroads).

At the age of eleven, her fan1ily moved to New York and she emolled in the Spence School where she would

later graduate. Paltrow enrolled .in tile University of California at Santa Barbara with tile intention of majoring in Art

History. She quickly learned tl1at college life was not someiliing she felt committed to and withdrew from school

despite her father's strong recommendation to remain. It wasn't until he caught her moving performance in the ·

Williamstown Theater production of Picnic, starring opposite her mother and Tony Goldwyn did he lend his support

in her pursuit of an acting career.

Paltrow currently resides in New York Cit-y and London.
