NATIONAL ECONOMICS CHALLENGE CATS ACADEMY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE FOR THE FIRST TIME Eight members of the CATS Economics Club participated in the Economics Challenge of the State of Massachusetts, organized by the Massachusetts Council. Participants answered multiple-choice questions at Advanced Placement level Micro and Macro economics. Our students achieved nearly double the state average, which is 360pts, in their results:

In a few weeks time the Massachusetts Council will publish the state rankings, announcing whether CATS Academy students are among the state champions to progress onto the next round. Participating in the State of Massachusetts’ Economics Challenge is one of the CATS Economics Club activities. Members of the club develop skills through a range of activities offered by a portfolio of partners and sponsors including the Massachusetts Council on Economics Education, Global Association of Economics Education and CATS UK Economics clubs.

PREPARING YOU FOR UNIVERSITY SUCCESS COMMUNITY ART SHOW This month students took part in the annual community art show and competition along with other students from schools in the local area. Based at the Braintree Community Arts Centre, students get the chance to present their artwork.

Chris Angell, Head of School, said: “I am always in awe of the talent our students show and I congratulate them on their outstanding work”.

At CATS Academy Boston we offer passionate art students the opportunity to study our Visual and Performing Arts Enrichment Program, with guaranteed progression to Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts on successful completion of the program.

BAND CONCERT 2019 Our students performed in the annual band concert where they showcased their musical talents to the school. Students gave solo and group performances, with a headline performance from a student band “Stop Playing”.

At CATS Academy Boston we offer many opportunities for students to explore their musical talents, including Chorus, Keyboard, Business of Music, Music Technology Student drummer and Production and Instrument Ensemble.

PREPARING YOU FOR UNIVERSITY SUCCESS THE LATEST TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES

PROVIDENCE BRUINS, ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT The Providence Bruins is an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. Our students took a trip to see them play against Utica Comets at the Dunkin’ Donuts Centre in Providence, Rhode Island. The Providence Bruins won the game with a score of 3-1, so our students were Students at the Ice Hockey tournament able to celebrate!

GOSPEL FEST Our talented students recently took a trip to the Gospel Fest at Newton North High School. Forming a Gospel choir, our students took to the stage to perform traditional and contemporary gospel music, supported by a live band and their music teachers at CATS Academy.

LASER QUEST Our students took a trip to a Laser Quest venue to enjoy an immersive and interactive gaming experience. Once they arrived they were given a breifing along with their Laser Quest pack and laser before battling against their class mates.

ESCAPE THE ROOM Students visited Downtown Boston to improve their problem solving skills and take part in a fun, interactive puzzle game. Groups of 10 were locked in various rooms, and given a set of clues to solve and follow in order to unlock the room.
