Article 10 Fall 2013 The Oaks Press ‘ Campus News ‘ October 21st to October 27th 2013 Eyes On The Prize!

Aloha Menlo College,

I saw this quote during a presentation in Human Inspirational Sexuality class. I perceive this quote to mean that, Quote in order to achieve your goals, you must be able to envision them. “You can’t be what you can’t The reason why I included this quote this week see.” is because there may be some of you who are discouraged with your midterm grades. However, what I want you all to realize is that it is not to late to bring that grade up.

Keep focused on your goals and don’t lose sight of them…only then will you be able to achieve them. If you lower your standards because you are struggling, you are only cheating yourself.

Shoot for the moon and if you just so happen to miss, you’ll still land amongst the stars.

Time Management Advice

Although midterms are over, it is never too early to start looking for the future. With finals week and the ending of semester only SEVEN weeks away, why not look of ways at managing your time in a more efficient manner so that finals week won’t be as stressful as it would be if you procrastinated. Here are tips of how to manage your time, which could lead to less stress.

1. Be Organized. Carry a schedule or to do lists for the week and cross them out as you complete them. An organized workspace also helps reduce wasted time by preventing you for needing to “search” for your work. 2. Plan Ahead. Determine how long each task will take and look at the possibility of any tasks being combined such as if you have two projects that involve cutting out images, then consider doing cutting for both projects at the same time. Lastly, you could look if larger tasks can be broken down into smaller tasks to help the process. 3. Prioritize Tasks. When doing your to do list, make sure to put the more important and time sensitive tasks at the top of the list so that they are completed in time. Also, setting goals on when you want to complete or achieve certain tasks may help with managing time. 4. Avoid Overload. Remember to always factor in time for rest, relaxation, sleep, eating, exercise, and socializing. Also, take short breaks in between study and work periods. Don’t procrastinate! 5. Be Flexible. Be able to rearrange your schedule just in case the unexpected happens such as sickness or car trouble. Also, look for sources that may be able to help your through these times and get you back on schedule. 6. Have A Vision. Have a positive attitude! Set goals for yourself and realize that the hard work you are putting in now will ultimately pay off and be personally rewarding in the end.

If you take the 6 factors above into consideration, finals week should be a piece of cake for you! Also, check out the bulletin board outside of the Student Union for information on Technology Addiction and on November 22nd for more information on time and stress management. Go Oaks!
