Banana Pi is an open-source single-board computer from Sinovoip (China). It is equipped with a 1-GHz Allwinner A20 Cortex ARM7 dual-core CPU, which makes it faster than the Raspberry Pi, but also more expensive (about € 30 vs. € 49).

DESPITE ITS NAME, THE BANANA PI IS NOT A FOLLOW UP VERSION of the Raspberry, but a clone from China. The product weights 48 g and has obtained CE, FCC, and RoHS certifications. It features 1 GiB DDR3 SD-RAM, a built-in Gigabit Ethernet port, a HDMI interface, and a SATA socket. For on-board storage an SD card is required, with a minimum size of 4 GiB and a maximum size of 64 GiB, class 4. The user can connect a mobile hard disk to the SATA port to store more files.

Optionally, the board computer offers Wifi and a CSI input connector allows the connection of a camera module. Two USB 2.0 ports are available directly from the A20 chip.
