Banff Discovery Tour Gondola Ride, Whyte Museum & Heritage Homes Tour On this excursion with a local guide, experience mountain highs and historic places. Enjoy the majestic sights, take once-in-a-lifetime photos, and participate in short leisurely walks to unforgettable view points. This tour includes a breathtaking gondola journey to the top of 2,451 meter (8,041 feet) high Sulphur Mountain, overlooking the picturesque town of Banff with a bird's eye view of six mountain ranges. Here, guests see more mountains in a moment than most see in a lifetime! Explore the Whyte Museum of the , where the cultural heritage of the region is prominently portrayed in an impressive display of paintings and photos of art. And join a local historical guide on a Heritage Homes tour.

Discovery Tour Whyte and Buffalo Nations Museums & Downtown Banff Shopping On this excursion with a local guide, learn about the natural history of the Canadian Rockies and the history and culture of the various peoples that lived and worked here, by visiting two museums located within the town of Banff. Explore the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies, where hundreds of paintings and photos are on display, spanning decades, styles and subjects. The cultural heritage of the region is most prominently portrayed in these works of art and guests are invited to join on a pictorial Heritage Homes Visits. Visit the Buffalo Nations Luxton Museum and spend some time with a First Nations elder who will share insights to aboriginal life, the spiritual and ceremonial, the every day and their stories and legends prior to the arrival of the white man. Time will also be available to explore at leisure the main town of Banff; to shop or just browse and enjoy the mountain air. Participants may choose to be dropped off at the hotel about 4:15, before shopping time.

Lake Louise Afternoon Trip On this excursion with a local guide, visit the “Jewel of the Canadian Rockies,” Lake Louise. Surrounded by soaring mountain peaks, the majestic Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake, this iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site is not to be missed on a trip to this part of the world - a view that looks too beautiful to be real. Enjoy some time at leisure to wander the lakeside trails, explore the iconic Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel or paddle out onto lake and immerse yourself in the surrounding scene.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON: Voyageur Canoe – Offered Sunday and Monday Here, in this natural paradise, escape the bustle of the lakeshore and journey onto the pristine turquoise lake in an authentic 26’ cedar strip voyageur canoe. Revel in the tranquillity and awe- inspiring view as your guide shares local stories about the wildlife, the indigenous people and the early explorers. Minimum age: 8 (must be accompanied by participating adult)

Comfortable active attire as appropriate for the weather and athletic footwear. The canoes are quite stable so risk of getting wet is minimal. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON: Guided Hike – OFFERED MONDAY ONLY Join a hike with a local accredited naturalist guide who will lead a stroll along the lakeside path to the far end. Along the way learn about the wildlife, flora & fauna, the indigenous people and the early explorers of this area. Minimum age: 8 (must be accompanied by participating adult)

Consolation Lakes Hike Spend the afternoon with a local naturalist guide on this peaceful yet invigorating hike to Consolation Lakes. With a brief stop on route to take in the postcard views of Lake Louise and the Victoria Glacier, the ultimate destination is a short drive to nearby Moraine Lake. Set in the rugged Valley of the Ten Peaks, Moraine Lake is surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and rock piles; creating a scene so stunning it almost seems unreal. Pause lakeside to absorb the sights and pure mountain air before setting off on a gentle hike through lush forest alongside a babbling mountain brook until reaching the peaceful valley where the view opens up to a stunning meadow, steep slopes, crystal clear lakes and the Quadra glacier. This is a place and experience sure to leave a lasting impression.

Comfortable active attire as appropriate for the weather and athletic footwear. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.

Total hiking time is about 2 hours (6 km). Minimum age 12; must be accompanied by participating adult.

White Water Rafting | Kananaskis River Class I-III This white water rafting tour that has something to offer every type of adventurer. While ideal for first time rafters, the Kananaskis River has enough thrills for even a seasoned white water thrill seeker. This controlled river offers up to class III rapids and winds its way through the beautiful . With approximately 2 hours surfing, paddling and, if guests feel brave enough, swimming in this glacial fed river it is a quintessential way to spend an afternoon in the Rockies. Experienced guides share stories about the history, flora, fauna and geography of this unique part of the Canadian . Includes all gear and safety equipment.

GBA Spouse/Guest Program: Misty Moraine Lake Painting Workshop

Registered spouses/guests are invited to participate in this annual program exclusively planned for our meeting. This activity is included in the spouse/guest registration and includes a continental breakfast. Please register to let us know to expect you!

Join us on Monday morning, and you’ll discover that you don’t have to be an artist to have an amazing time.

A local artist host will guide you through two lively hours of relaxing creativity. You’ll have everything you need to create a locally inspired painting, and your blank canvas will be a, well, canvas tote bag (see photo samples), which are very practical and compatible for travel!

The tote bags will be prepped with a product called gesso that creates a base for the paint to go on smoothly, and a taped area on the bag so there are clean edges to the finished painting. The tote bags will be freshly ironed and set on an upright mini-easel at each place setting.

Don’t miss this fun time with fellow spouses and guests!

Golf Tournament Fairmont Banff Springs’ Stanley Thompson Course Renowned for its panoramic beauty, The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course is a captivating and challenging layout set in the heart of 's Rocky Mountains. This course offers two simple things for the perfect golf outing: First, a breathtaking view in every direction and second, a magnificent layout that thrills every golfer fortunate enough to spend a day here. Amateurs and professionals alike are constantly amazed by its challenging layout. From the actual hole design to the optical illusions created by the surrounding mountains, this golf course will delight and tempt you.

Tennis Tournament - Fairmont Banff Springs’ Courts Even if you’re a weekend warrior player, you’re invited to join other GBA tennis enthusiasts on Monday afternoon for fun and friendly competition on the Fairmont courts. A Fairmont instructor/pro will facilitate the tournament.

Bike & Hike Sundance Canyon The best ways to see Banff are by bicycle or on foot! On this excursion travel far enough to see all of Banff's must-see sights, yet still be able to get off the beaten track and experience Banff's real nature and some refreshing exercise! This cycle route journeys past the Cave & Basin National Historic Site and along the Bow River to Sundance Canyon; following the Bow River and its side channels amidst views of the rugged peaks to the north, including the distinctive spire of Mount Edith. Upon arrival to the canyon, lock up the bikes and enjoy a chance to explore the surrounding trails and forested area on foot. With a naturalist guide to lead and inspire, this is no average walk. This adventure is one of the area’s most beautiful destinations and an ideal way to get outside, get active and be spoiled by the best of Banff!

Minimum age 12; must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Participants must be able to ride a bike comfortably and to perform a shoulder check without going off a trail / falling from a bike. Should not be suffering or recovering from knee, hip, ankle joint injuries or heart conditions. Comfortable active attire as appropriate for the weather and athletic footwear. Activity prices are per person and in U.S. dollars. Listed activity start and end times refer to hotel departure and hotel return time.

Activity Registration Deadline: Tuesday, May 28

Activity cancellations must be made no later than June 6. Please provide notice by email to GBA’s Shan Haugabrook, [email protected]. If you must cancel but find a replacement for your registered activity, you will not be penalized.

Activity participants may be required to sign a waiver. Individuals who are pregnant, suffer from back or neck pain, heart or respiratory distress should consult a physician before participating in any activity. Pregnant women may be prohibited from participating in some activities.

Weight and/or age restrictions may apply to some activities (will be noted in activity info).

Activity Minimums/Maximums: All activities have required minimums and maximums and are subject to cancellation if the activity minimum isn’t met. In this case, activity registrants will be notified and may select another option or be refunded in full.
