03.07.19 Mark your calendars for May 10th and 11th when Benson will honor The Town of Benson Jimmy Capps, native of Benson and one of country music’s finest guitar turns 132! players! He grew up on Church Street and played with Jim Thornton and Happy birthday! Hayden Ivey as a young man. He has been on the Grand Ole Opry for over 60 years and has worked with some of country music’s biggest 03.11.19 names – Barbara Mandrell, Kenny Rogers, The Oak Ridge Boys, George Pajama Story Time 6PM Jones, and The Louvin Brothers, just to name a few. Capps was inducted Mary Duncan Library into the Musicians Hall Of Fame and the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2014, and he was honored as a “Nashville Cat” by the Country 03.12.19 Music Hall Of Fame in 2012. Some of the events on May 10th and 11th to honor Jimmy Capps and Town Board Meeting th 7PM celebrate his 80 birthday include: Conference Center  Memorabilia will be on display at the Benson Museum.  A historical marker will be erected in front of the house he grew up in 03.13.19 on Church Street. th Preschool Story Time  A reception will be held on Friday, May 10 in his honor. 10AM  Jimmy Capps will be in concert with The Malpass Brothers on May Mary Duncan Library 11th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Crossroads Church in Benson.
