Holiday Newsletter 2001 HOLIDAY NEWSLETTER 2001 Holiday Greeting from Juice! “Dear Fans: Hold the ones you love a little longer, look to the heavens with more wonder, and know we are not alone .A Merry Christmas to us all.” Love, Juice 1 HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone! What a fabulous year this has been for Juice. Although there has been a lot of negative events going on in the world the past few months, we can always rely on the wonderful sound of Juice’s music to take our minds off of it for a while. DVD/CD This new DVD/CD project is still in the stages of being completed. As I stated in the last newsletter, it was a very special night 9/10/01 not only for Juice but for all fans in attendance for the taping of this event. The projected release is the spring of 2002. Should you catch Juice in concert before the release of the new DVD/CD, you can hear her sing “Your Heart Is Showing” & “All Roads Lead Back To You” and these are fabulous songs that were performed during the taping. Send in your thoughts of these songs as you hear them. SITES OF INTEREST Thanks to Fan Club members who continue to write in about Internet Sites featuring Juice. The first site is called “Famous Birthdays and Events in February.” The URL is http://www.freebiesnfriends.com/02.html. This is a very interesting fact based site. Jody Stivers a Fan Club member wrote in about a site you can go to at www.rollingstone.com. You may go there and type in Juice’s name. There you will find trivia and message boards and concert/album reviews. (Thanks again Jody!) A fun site of interest is http://www.geocities.com/tonytranfa/index.html. Here there is an interesting tid-bit of information about “Angel of The Morning.” It reads…Who was the original singer of the song "Angel of the Morning"? Was it Stevie Nicks...Joan Jett... Carly Simon? This has been driving me nuts! The original of "Angel of the Morning" was done by MERRILEE RUSH AND THE TURNABOUTS in 1968 -- got to Number 7 on the charts. A female singer named JUICE NEWTON did a popular remake in 1981. That's the version a lot of people remember now. It made it up to Number 4. Coincidentally, the tune was written by CHIP TAYLOR, the brother of actor JON VOIGHT. 2 February is the most romantic month of the year. Not only is Valentine’s Day on February 14th but Juice’s birthday is February 18th! Want to know about other famous birthdays and events? Go to http://exitstitial.gopher.com/exitpage/index_hm.html. You will find Juice is listed there. Juice is also featured at a site about the women of the 80’s. The address is http://80music.about.com/library/weekly/aa031000i.htm. Featured next is a great article about Juice. It can be found at http://www.lvrj.com/lvrj_home/2001/Feb-09-Fri-2001/weekly/15236865.html. There has been a lot of interest in a compilation of Juice’s videos. Unfortunately, there is only “one” package that features Juice and one of her videos. Point your web browser to the following web address… http://www.musicvideodistributors.com/pressrelease/9501-9DVD.html. You will find a new DVD with Juice’s “Love’s Been A Little Bit Hard On Me” video. Quotable Quotes Jim said, “Hi, Tonight, my wife and I were treated to a terrific performance at the Casino Rama entertainment center. We thoroughly enjoyed your show, and listened to one of your cd's on the trip back to our home. Please include Pam and Jim Morrison as members of your fan club. We have always enjoyed your music and the ability that you have to control your voice over such a range. We also found you to be quite personable with the audience as well. Keep up the great work!!” Sincerely, Jim Morrison 3 Martin said, “My wife is a "southern lady" from NC and introduced me to country music, then I discovered Juice who is another dimension!” CONGRATULATIONS! Fan Club Member Dan Crum is the winner of the JNFC jacket. Dan sent in his essay of why he is Juice’s biggest fan. Read what he had to say below. “Juice Newton's musical appeal breaks through all barriers of time and space. Her admirers include the very young to those who have seen many changes in popular music throughout their lifetimes. I have encountered many fans in this country and abroad who realize and appreciate her amazing gift. Juice can convey more emotion in a three-minute song than most singers can generate in an album full of ballads. I am aware of many instances when Juice's music and crystal clear angelic voice have given comfort to those in need. Then my granddad died a few years back I picked out several Juice songs that I felt would soothe my grandmother in her time of sorrow. Among the tunes were "For Believers", and "Stand by Me Jesus". I can't express in words how much this music meant to her. I literally saw the hope and life return to her face after listening to this "musical poetry", as she called it. On another occasion I saw Juice's appeal to an entirely different generation. On a road trip that I was taking with my 13 year old niece and 11 year old nephew, (who are not well known for getting along for extended periods of time) I decided to bring along some Juice music to help us pass the time. I am proud to say that I won over two new Juice fans on that trip, plus, miracle of miracles, they did not fight or argue at all. They were totally into the music. Their favorites were "Goin' to Work", "Ask Lucinda", & "They Never Made it To Memphis" One of my favorite vacation stories involves a trip to London’s' famous Portabello Road huge outdoor flea market. I came across a vendor from Japan who was selling CD’s. He had a copy of "Old Flame" and we got to talking when he saw me pick it up. Turns out he is a huge fan and quickly let me know that the only reason he was selling this copy was because he had three more at home. He had already planned for the eventuality that he would wear out several discs. 4 I have personally experienced Juice's vast appeal to all generations, nationalities, and anyone who appreciates a superb voice. Juice's music can lead you through a "Trail of Tears" or calm you if you’re "Headin' for a Heartache". She's the "Sweetest Thing", the "Queen of Hearts" and the greatest vocal artist of them all. For all of these reasons I am proud to say that I am, and will always be, the biggest Juice Newton Fan.” Dan Crum Three parties judged the entries for the contest. It was so nice to read about how much Juice’s music means to everyone. 2001 In Retrospect The JNFC received its official logo. The logo is that of the original JNFC but has been slightly modernized. Thank you to Mr. Otha Young for helping out with the artwork on this. There was one show in particular this past year that sounded very impressive. The best show in my opinion was the DVD/CD taping on 9/10/01. However, Brenda Young (Otha’s Wife) wrote about another show. This article was mentioned in the Summer Newsletter originally. “Juice performed a 2 hour concert on Father's Day for the prestigious outdoor Summer Concert Series in Woodland Hills. CA. Juice and the band put on a terrific show attended by an estimated crowd of 2500-3000 concert revelers. The Chairman of the Board was in attendance and reported that "Juice put on the best show we've ever had here"!” This past year Juice could be found performing everywhere from San Juan Capistrano CA to Massachusetts. Where does she get the energy? Where else…the energy comes from the fans! 5 Things to Ponder by Paul The year 2001 has held very positive and negative feelings for everyone around the world. Perhaps the most devastating were the terrorist attacks on the United States 9/11/01. The night prior to that Juice Fans had enjoyed the taping of Juice’s new project. Personally, I chose to fall back on that evening. It helped me cope with the tragedy. Now, with our nation healing, it’s time to move on to happier times and show everyone why we are proud to be Americans. Also, it’s important to show that nobody anywhere will be intimidated by such cowardly acts. I would like every Fan Club Member to know how much I have enjoyed bringing you the news about Juice this past year. I enjoyed meeting and talking with many of you. TO JUICE Juice, you continue to receive great support through the Fan Club. I, on behalf of the Fan Club Members would like to wish you, Tom and Jessica and Tyler a “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” TO OTHA & THE BAND The great work the band does year round is very much appreciated! Otha, the Fan Club Members wish you and Brenda and Makenna Happy Holidays! Jay and Steve and Aundrey & Richard, the best wishes to you and yours this joyous season!! 6 IN THE END That’s all the news this time around.

Official Fan Club Site—www.juicenewtonfanclub.com 2016 Spring Newsletter Hi Everyone, The support and love for Juice has never been as powerful and as proven as it was over the last few months. This issue of the newsletter will feature some new information about Juice and will introduce you to the 2016 “O” Award winner. Paul 1 A Hit All Over Again I am pleased to announce that Juice is once again on the charts with the song that is as classy as she is. ‘Angel of The Morning’ is once again on the charts thanks to the blockbuster movie ‘Deadpool.’ (more on this later) A whole new generation of fans are listening to Juice and have joined the fan club or in- quired about the song. Congratulations Juice!! 'Deadpool' Director Tim Miller and Songwriter Chip Taylor on the Film's Soft-Rock Center- piece, 'Angel in the Morning' (http://www.billboard.com/articles/business/6882938/behind-deadpool-soundtrack-tim-miller-chiptaylor-juice-newton-angel-in-the-morning) “There'll be no strings to bind your hands / Not if my love can't bind your heart.” That’s the first thing you hear over the Marvel logo in the No. 1 movie in the country, Deadpool. As '80s pop country singer Juice Newton sings about an illicit love affair she just can’t shake in her 1981 hit “Angel of the Morning,” Ryan Reynolds’ f-bomb blasting anti-hero gets busy kicking ass. It makes zero sense on the surface, and yet director Tim Miller says that the song was the only track con- sidered to open the superhero flick that grossed another $55 million over the weekend to easily hold on to the No.

This edition of the JNFC Summer Newsletter is full of information about Juice that is sure to get all members excited. I wish everyone, a very happy and fun and most of all safe summer. Sweet, Sweet Juice The year was 1977. Two very talented songwriters collaborated on a song about a someone who had to be set right by their significant every day in order for things to be right. The song was a big hit for the popular brother and sister duo The Carpenters. The song writers were Otha Young and Juice Newton and the song was "Sweet, Sweet Smile." Many people have asked and wondered why Juice never recorded this song herself. They need not wonder any longer. Juice has recorded this classic song on her new compilation "The Ultimate Hits Collection." Juice has recorded a modern rendition of this song. Juice peforms a different tempo and this of course differs from the version that The Carpenters recorded. Juice gave the song a new personality. MT Dorms brace for Cat-Griz Weekend By SAM LOWMILLER Things will be a little more exciting than usual this weekend, as the campus will be invaded by hordes of students from Missoula, coming to witness the "Cat-G riz" football battle. Over the years, the huge rivalry and high amounts of school spirit have occasionally led to vandalism or other problems in the residence halls. To combat occurrences of this nature this year, Elaine Green, director of housing, has beefed up security crackdowns of dorms for the weekend. Extra precautions include having the hall doors locked early. The only guests to be allowed in the dormitory halls are thoughs escorted by a resident. The escort policy will be in effect in all halls. In the co-ed and men's halls, this will take effect when the outside doors are locked. Green also reminds all on campus residents that they will be held responsible for the actions of their guests. and to be aware of the rules which apply to the registration of guests. Each res ident is allowed no more than one overnight guest and they must be registered at the dormitory desk. Failure to register guests will result in a $10 charge.
