In addition to the traditional four-semester sequence of music , performing ensembles, and applied (private) lessons, the degree is designed specifically to enhance the technological skills of music students. Academic courses and practical provide an introduction to the use of computers in musical and multimedia production, including web design, digital video editing, and audio recording.

The Music Technology and Audio Engineering facilities at KCKCC include three state-of-the- recording/mixing , a computer/MIDI lab, and an impressive live reinforcement system. Our facilities are open on evenings and weekends to allow students to work on school projects. The program consists of active professionals in the recording and sound reinforcement industry.

Students frequently transfer to 4-year degree programs in related fields, and we have transfer and articulation agreements in place with several . Our students are employed both locally and nationally at live music venues, churches, and recording studios; with music retailers; at television and radio stations; telecommunications companies; and music business and administration companies. They have also created entrepreneurial companies that address the needs of niche markets in the audio industry.
