Good Deed of the Month: Malala Fund by Kiana Ruane on April 30th, pictured above with Anusha, Mariella, and Kayleigh

Did you know that, around the world, many girls are prevented from getting an education and there are more than 130 million girls out of school today? In fact, 20 million more girls might never go back to school after the pandemic is over.

Anne Hutchinson School’s 5th grade Student Council believes these facts matter because two thirds of the people worldwide who can’t read are women. We need to give girls an education in order for them to grow up and have opportunities in the world!

Student Council is encouraging Anne Hutch students and families to donate to the Malala Fund, which works to keep girls learning. The Malala Fund helps girls share their stories with important leaders to change laws so all girls can go to school. This organization also helps people who are fghting to make laws fair. The Malala Fund is currently supporting local leaders in , Brazil, Ethiopia, , , , , and .

Money donated can be sent to school in an envelope marked Malala Fund. Please include your child’s name and teacher. Save the Date for 5th Grade Moving Up by Annette Keane on April 30th
