When Sara was 16 years old, she submitted an application and was approved for the Leadership in Training / Camper in Transition (LIT/cit) program. Her participation in the LIT/cit program was completed in 2007 and she quickly applied the valuable leadership skills she learned to realize her dream of becoming a counselor. She began volunteering as a Family Pal for the Family Retreat programs and was then hired in 2008, 2009 and 2010 as a summer staff counselor. “The LIT program provided invaluable training so I could give back to Camp all that was given to me. And, it did not take long for me to realize that it was just as much fun, maybe even more, to work as a counselor! It’s a totally different connec- tion that you make with the kids,” Sara affirmed.
