Closing of Animas Corporation Business in United Kingdom and Ireland

Dear Healthcare Provider

Our relationship with healthcare providers is important to us, and we understand the trust and confidence you and your patients place in our products and company. It is therefore very important that you have accurate information about a decision made by Animas Corporation to discontinue the manufacture and sale of Animas® Vibe® insulin pumps, close operations and exit the business in the U.K. and Ireland. We want to ensure you understand what this decision means for your patients and their diabetes care.

If your patients are currently using an Animas pump and pump supplies, they will continue to receive pump support and services. Specifically, Animas will continue to provide customer service and warranty support, including providing pump supplies that are used in conjunction with the Animas® Vibe® insulin pumps, through a transition period. As part of our continued commitment to patient care, Animas will honour pump warranties. If your patients currently use LifeScan, Dexcom or Diasend products, they can continue to use them. They will continue to receive the same customer care.

Please note that all field‐based Animas Territory Managers and Clinical Training Managers will only be in the field until the 31st January 2018.

We have selected Medtronic as our preferred partner to facilitate a seamless insulin delivery system transition. One of the reasons we chose Medtronic is because of its strong track record providing outstanding patient care and support. For over 30 years, Medtronic has been a global leader in the treatment of those living with diabetes, and we are confident that they will provide outstanding support to your patients and their healthcare teams. We encourage you to work with your patients to decide which insulin delivery system is right for them.

We are in the process of contacting each Foundation Trust/Tender Authority/Health Board to gain agreement on any preferred transition arrangement with Medtronic. We will contact you again with details of this opportunity following the dialogue with the aforementioned bodies.

This decision to close Animas operation was extremely difficult and comes following an extensive exploration of all other viable options for the business.
