RULES FOR EXHIBITING

1. All sellers must agree to work in his/her own sales booth during sales hours or make prior arrangements to have his/her booth manned during sales hours. All for sale in the mart will be inspected by a Florida Department of Agriculture plant inspector before sales start. All plants in the sales mart must be good quality plants, in good condition, free from evidence of disease or pests.

2. This is an "open show". Any person complying with the rules and regulations may exhibit an orchid plant in bloom. Exhibit space is by invitation only. Each exhibit must conform to the theme of the show and be registered.

3. Exhibitors in commercial classes are eligible for plant mart space. Orchids, ferns, anthuriums, bromeliads and orchid supplies may be sold in sales marts, but orchids must predominate.

4. All exhibits are subject to the approval of the show committee. No artificial plant materials may be used. Exhibitors will supply all staging material for their exhibits and ensure that pots, stands, and other staging materials are adequately camouflaged, leaving a neat, attractive exhibit. All other sellers have agreed to provide 2 plants for the raffle table and give a lecture, donate $25.00 to the trophy fund or provide 5 additional items at a $25 to $30 to be used for the raffle table.

5. Classification and registration of plants and exhibits will begin at 9 AM until 2:00 PM SHARP on Friday, June 4th, 2021. All plants and exhibits must be in place and ready for judging by 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 5th,2021. Early registration by email/on-line is strongly encouraged and appreciated.

6. The show is approved for AOS judging. Plants for only AOS judging must be entered by 8:30 A.M. on Saturday June 5th, 2021. Exhibitors who do not want certain of their plants to be considered for AOS judging should indicate this when registering their exhibit. Such action does not disqualify a plant for appropriate ribbon judging or trophy class. Anyone who wishes to call the judges' attention to a plant that he feels merits AOS judging should list the plant with the chairman of judges.

7. All exhibits must conform to the area for which they have been registered or be subject to disqualification. It is the exhibitor's responsibility to keep within his space limitations. A 10% allowance over or under area is permitted to compensate for difficulty in staging.

th 18. Exhibits must not be removed from the show before 4:00 P.M. Sunday, June 6 2021 without the permission of the show chairman or awards will be invalidated.

9. It is the responsibility of the EXHIBITOR/OWNER to enter his plants and/or exhibit in the correct class. However, all entries in competition must be approved by the classification committee before being registered. Registration sheets must show parentage, clonal name and previous awards, if known. All plants and flowers in competition must be properly and prominently labeled with name of plant, clonal name and awards to assist the judges and to inform the public. There will be ribbon judging of plants or blooms in all exhibits. Only registered orchid plants are eligible for a trophy. Judges, AT THEIR DISCRETION, may reclassify a plant in case of a mistake in classification and/or registration. Plants incorrectly labeled are subject to disqualification . 10. Intergeneric hybrids should be classified according to the dominant parent, if there is a choice of class. Natural occurring hybrids classified as .

11. In classes referring to color, the color named must be dominant, even though other colors may be present,

12. A seedling blooming for the first time may also be entered in the class in which it would normally be entered as a mature plant. MERICLONES and STEM PROPAGATIONS ARE NOT SEEDLINGS! (NOTE: Plants entered as seedlings blooming for the first time, must be visually and physically inspected by the classification committee).

13. The classification and registration committees may divide any class along logical lines as entries are registered. Judges may further divide classes to give recognition to quality flowers in the show.

14. The judges may award or withhold any scheduled award for valid reasons. Judges may recommend special prizes or ribbons for consideration to the show chairman.

15. Current AMERICAN ORCHID SOCIETY, INC., scale of points for judging individual flowers of the various genera will be followed. No duplicate prizes will be awarded.

16. Current AOS scale of points for judging group exhibits will be followed, with emphasis on artistic effect: General arrangement 35 Quality of flowers 35 Variety 20 Labeling 10 100

17. Judges must sign reports, score sheets and trophy sheets before they are turned in.

18. Judges are expected to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations, asking the show chairman for interpretation if necessary. Decisions of judges and rulings by the show chairman are final. th 19. All exhibits must be removed by 7 P.M. Sunday, June 6 2021. Any flowers not claimed by their exhibitors will be sent to local hospitals. Out-of-town exhibitors are requested to submit in writing instructions for special disposition of their flowers.

20. Exhibitors who do not clean up their exhibit space after exhibits are dismantled will be charged a clean-up fee.

21. The Central Florida Orchid Society, Inc., sponsors of the show, its officers or show committee, are not responsible for damage or loss of plants, flowers, or other displayed material. However, every precaution will be taken to provide proper safeguards. COMMERCIAL SALES ACTIVITIES

1. The major purpose of all orchid shows is to encourage new people to make a hobby of growing and displaying orchid plants and promoting a membership in an orchid society. The show and society depend heavily upon the commercial vendor's efforts in presenting orchids for sale of high standards and interest to the general public. Exhibiting standards are those set forth in the AOS Handbook on Judging and Exhibition used for determining the AOS Show Trophy award. Poor exhibit quality shall be sufficient reason to deny an invitation to any hobbyist or commercial grower.

2. Acceptance of an invitation to participate as a commercial vendor shall be evidence of that individual's agreement to: a) abide by all these show rules and regulations; b) install an orchid exhibit if required covering the minimum square feet of table space designated in the class they are entering, and of good quality as measured by AOS Show Trophy standards; c) display in his sales mart area, in a neat and acceptable manner, the name and location of his business, and if practicable, use plant tags or other means of identifying his merchandise. d) confine all sales activity to his assigned sales area, i.e., within the outside perimeter of the assigned sales tables, unless consent to do otherwise is first obtained from the show chairman; e) affix price stickers on all items offered for sale; and f) not engage in "fire sales", wholesaling to the general public, or similar price reduction, or "selling out" price activities which tend to cheapen a show in the eyes of the public.
