1.0 PURPOSE OF REPORT

The purpose of this report is to seek approval from the Education Committee to include the Sports Pavilion at Bothwellhaugh, Strathclyde Park on the list of properties covered under the lease agreement between North Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Leisure Limited.

2.0 BACKGROUND

2.1 North Lanarkshire Council has previously entered into arrangements with North Lanarkshire Leisure Limited whereby NLL have responsibility for the maintenance and management of major sports and leisure facilities owned by the Council. The relevant properties are specified under Schedule Part 1 of the Funding Agreement between North Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Leisure Limited of January 2014. A copy of the Schedule is attached at Appendix 1.

3.0 INCLUSION OF BOTH WELLHAUGH PAVILION

3.1 The Sports Pavilion at Bothwellhaugh has been in poor condition and not in operational use for several years. The pavilion has recently been refurbished as part of agreed proposals to improve the existing infrastructure within the Authority and to raise the profile of rugby in North Lanarkshire, as reported to Committee on 23 January 2015. The property, being managed and operated by North Lanarkshire Leisure, should be included in the list of properties specified in the schedule at Appendix 1.

4.0 RECOMMENDATIONS

recommended:The Education−(i)Committee is

to approve amendment of the Schedule Part 1 of the Funding Agreement to include the Bothwellhaugh Pavilion as a specified property under the lease agreement.
