PLAYMA Biography PLAYMA Biography Originating from different scenes and musical backgrounds, music outfits don't get much more diverse than PLAYMA. A musical meeting of minds between acclaimed Russian producers Davip and Mars, and respected French Drum and Bass artist Ben William, PLAYMA represents a hybrid of creative visions. Despite knowing each other for many years, a few collaborative releases, and even playing each other's tracks in sets, it was only in June of 2011 that this unlikely group became a firm reality. After a show in Kalingrad which happened to feature all three producers on the line up, a quick play around in the studio resulted in a surprisingly huge track. Knowing they were onto something, Davip, Mars and Ben William quickly formed PLAYMA as a project to fuse their varied styles into one awesome product. With backgrounds in Breaks, Drum and Bass and inspiration from a variety of music including Miles Davis, The Chemical Brothers and Noisia, it was always likely that PLAYMA would have a unique, novel sound. In the studio, music comes from a mix of two languages, three DAW's and years of friendship. Despite appearing to have so many factors against them such as location and differing software, not to mention a occasional language barrier, PLAYMA are able to work together in a flawless synergy, with their unconventional methods resulting in some seriously original output. Tracks often begin with Ben William forming a beat due to his drumming background. Already established as one of France's greatest Drum and Bass DJ's with his electic high energry sets featuring DnB, Breakbeat, Dubstep and even some electro, Ben is one of the most in demand DJs around. Having also worked his way up the producing ladder and producing Missill's classic album "Targets", the creative Frenchman now lends his talents to the PLAYMA project. Then Mars takes over. Founder and owner of XSSR music and XSSR dubstep, Alex Khilko has quickly become a leader of the Russian electronic music. After DJing in 2004, the young producer began making breaks in 2006, and three short years later his work was nominated for ‘Best Track’ at world famous International Breakbeat Awards. Using his already proven talents, Mars is able to sculpt the dirtiest, largest and most rumbling bass, another thing set to become a hallmark of PLAYMA's output. Russian Breaks producer Davip then adds rich sparking synth, giving PLAYMA's rich sound a third layer. Much like his peers, Davip aka Ilgiz Shamsiev is already well respected as a solo artist. At a mere 20 years of age, Davip already boasts releases on some of the biggest Breaks label's including Hardcore Beats UK and Breed 12 Inches, a sister label of the renowned Lifted Music label. After this creative process which often takes place online or in person, the result is a track that is a reflection of all three members, and unlike anything else in the Dubstep scene at the moment. With their unconventional style, production and individual talents, this exciting unlikely trio are ready to blow the electronic music scene wide open. Now at the tail end of 2011 the trio have signed to Audioporn Records, one of the leading labels in Drum and Bass – and more recently, in the Dubstep scene. Founded by Shimon, Audioporn already boasts one of the most exciting roster of artists in the scene including new signings Fourward, High Maintenance, and Xilent. A perfect fit for PLAYMA, Audioporn have always had a reputation for breaking original new talent and cross-over sounds, being the label that gave the world such hits as ‘Vandals’, ‘Quarks’, and ‘Teleportation’ by Dirtyphonics, as well as ‘History Of The Future’ by Camo & Krooked, and ‘Choose Me II’ by Xilent. Now with the might of one of the most cutting-edge labels behind them, PLAYMA look set to light up the scene with their unique vision of electronic music. Hou het echt! Authenticity in the Dutch hip-hop scene from the point of view of A&R-personnel Tim van Meurs Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication Erasmus University Rotterdam 362905 [email protected] Supervisor: Dr. Laura Braden Second reader: Prof.dr. Koen van Eijck June 8th, 2015 Foreword “You are trying to apply science to something that isn’t!” With those words, interviewee and godfather of Nederhop Kees de Koning summarized quite well what I have been doing for the last couple of months. Ambitious as I was at the start of the master thesis process, I figured I could interview some key behind-the-scenes figures of the Dutch hip-hop scene without too much trouble. At times, I wished I had listened to those who told me to pick another topic because people from the music industry are generally too busy to conduct a, for them, uninteresting interview. But this thesis now lies in front of you, finished and well, and ready to be read. But it did not become what it is now without any problems. Problems that I did not solve by myself. So for that, I would like to thank the people who guided me through my breakdowns, helped me get further in the process, and supplied me with all sorts of resources to go on; from encouragement, to food, to the opportunity for interviews. First I want to thank my interviewees, for without them I literally would not have been able to make this thesis. So thanks Farid, for being my first interviewee and referring me to others, and thanks Angelo, Jimmy, Pim, Gaétan, Tim, Amier, Jaap, Casper, Vincent and Kees for giving me some of your precious time.

It is widely known that people with mild or even no symptoms may be able to spread the virus. The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads very easily and sustainably between people. Information from the CDC indicates this virus is more contagious than influenza (the flu), which is itself highly contagious. The CDC also advises a person may contract the virus that causes COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes.

lifeandt imes.com http://lifeandtimes.com/foreign-beggars-at-the-apex-of-hip-hop-edm Foreign Beggars: At the "Apex" of Hip-Hop & EDM Although grime, a music style that emerged from British hip-hop and garage, is hardly a trend in the United States, dubstep, which also had its birth in England, is now a dominate sound in the American music scene. MCs Orifice Vulgatron, Metropolis and DJ Nonames, a British hip-hop, grime and dubstep trio by the name of Foreign Beggars has inadvertently reintroduced grime in a raw, dubstep package, The Uprising. On The Uprising, just released last month on deadmau5’s label, mau5trap, the trendsetting triad combined forces with EDM heavy hitters, Knife Party and even recorded a track with drummer Tommy Lee. “It was really nice to make a very varied album. I think one of the key reasons we signed with mau5trap as a label, they just gave us freedom to do whatever we want. We could have given then a whole ‘90s boom bap album or a techno album. They were like do whatever you want to do. For us, it’s just really special to put producers like Blue Daisy, Uzi and Kid Knievel on the same record as Knife Party and Tommy Lee. People we’d never pair in similar forums. That’s something that we love to do,” says Orifice Vulgatron. Life + Times and Vulgatron discuss genre definitions and the behind-the-scenes of the group’s latest project. Life + Times: In the ‘90s, you dabbled in metal, grunge, indie rock, drum n’ bass and hip hop.
