Education and Experience

Oscar Wilde once said “Nothing that is worth knowing can be taught”. This quote may probably be considered a little bit excessive, but was the writer completely wrong? I don't think so. Schools and teachers are a powerful and fundamental source of knowledge, and no one can deny this truth. Education is the foundation of our lives and we cannot prescind from it. However, not everything can be taught at school. Real life experiences should be considered as important as knowledge gained from classroom induction. We may learn math and science, or physics, but we don't really understand such things until we use the notions we learnt in real life situations. Anybody has the necessity to link knowledge to his/her own experiences to reach the true sense of it. Besides, it is not possible to teach some kinds of things such as how to react in certain situations or how to approach a particular problem. All the experiences I've made have taught me something. Working as a waitress I've learnt the importance of patience and humility and what it means to be really exhausted. I've learnt that there are few easy things in life. You have to fight and “suffer” to gain all the rest. I started working when I was 18 and all the jobs I've had have enriched my store of knowledge. I've learnt the value of money and this, for example, is something you cannot understand until you have to deal with it. I surely don't mean to underestimate the importance of in-class learning, but we should be very careful in saying that experiences are not so important as academic education. As Goethe said, “knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do."

Life is evidently based on relationships. We are born with an inherited one called family. Then, there are the relationships we make as we grow up, our friends and the family we make for ourselves through romantic relationships. For many of us, what makes these ties successful or not is a mystery. However, I strongly believe that relationships share two principal components: Love and disposition. Love has many facets and it’s involved in each of the types of relationships. Love is not only what links us, but should also be consider as a value. When people are asked about what makes a relationship successful, “love” probably won’t be within their first guesses. Interviewees, most likely, will answer: respect or honesty. However, I understand love as something that embraces both respect and honesty. If we really love, this other values along with honesty, trust, solidarity and kindness, will be extremely linked. Still, we cannot depend only in affection or feelings to have a good relationship. We must also want to work and do our part. Here is where disposition comes to take place. We must be willing to love, to take the risks that come with exposing your feelings and caring others. Understand that every relationship comes with challenges and it will not be easy but it will be worth it.

One of the most important basics of life is Flying in the sky is my best feeling. The best sport health. We must pay attention and take care of aircraft for me is a it. There are some things that are necessary to glider. When I am flying with help you maintain your health. One of them is you a glider, I am excited. I feel have to stay away from eating fat, like fast freedom, concentration, and food. Fast Food is not healthy because it has a lot many sensations. It’s strategic of calories. Second, you must stay away from and intense, too. We fly things that are harmful to your health. There are a sometimes near clouds and it’s lot of things but the most important of them are magical. This activity is a battle with nature and , drinking alcohol in abundance and drug myself. In a competition, gliding is the same strategy as a abuse. One of the best moments for me, when my nephew “Sury” runs to me talking without stopping about what he did that day in his daycare. I love that looks in his eyes. He always impressed me about a new thing he just learns from the daycare. As a result, I prefer a child go to the daycare for two reasons. The first positive thing in taking children to daycare is it a great place for children to learn, especially basic of dealing like saying: please, thinks, you're welcome. Parents taught their kids all etiquette but when the children go to the daycare they’ll start enforcement and do what their parents taught them in real life. In addition, day care training and learning kids to being an independent. For example, if a 4- year-old boy went to the restroom he knows there is no mama to help him. That really helps the mother and the child in the future. At last, daycare may teach even the parents to know their own child what he loves and by the time they will notice what his or her hobbies. Then that may make each other closer. Besides learning, a day care good place for truing kids how become more social. It gives the children a chance to meet a lot of people they are in the same age. For example, they may make new friends and play to gather and that is really good for children's health. Also, the teacher taught them how to active in the group. Thus, they become more responsible more respectful and they will know how share their games together. In short, all basics stops for social life we get learning from the day care. However, there are folks still like the child in that age to be home with one of their parents. They say the mother can teach their children better than the teacher in the day care. In contrast, the teacher spends four years maybe more to learning how teaching kids in that age. I think day care is best way to learn kids by fun way. In conclusion, day care is really an awesome place for kids to learn and find friends. I have been seeing how day care affects in my nephew it was appositive effective. He start tell me a new thing and his behavior change with other kids when he playing at home.

Traveling

Thousands of people all over the world travel to see other countries and continents. People travel to visit places that close or far away. Travelling or seeing places is an important part of our life. Travelling provides the benefit of sightseeing and gives pleasure to the visitor and also it is an exciting and interesting entertainment in today's world. It is always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different cultures and people, to taste different food. There are three ways of traveling: traveling by boat, by plane and travelling by car. These are most reliable ways of travelling. Travelling by boat is an opportunity to relax and abstract from everyday busy life. Most of people prefer travel by boat, because it is one of the exiting ways of travelling. There are so many advantages in traveling by a boat such as, more comfortable to travel, enjoyment of the sea air, cheaper than other forms and fun. During the traveling you can see different kinds of boats, you can see beautiful islands and exciting view. For example, when I was traveling by boat (cruise ship) to Bahamas islands, I had a lot of fun. I have enjoyed of ocean view. I have seen many gorgeous islands. For all of that I just spent 450$ for two weeks of unforgettable time in my life. Boat travel is most popular way of traveling. In present time there are too many people who prefer travel by plane. Of course it depends on health condition, mostly it is for old people, because airplane traveling is most safest and fastest way to reach their destination. Plane is more comfortable than a car or train. For relax you can enjoy a meal and a film on most flights. For instance, when I was in California, my friends and me planned to visit Lake Tahoe. That time I was in Los Angeles; they were in San Francisco, five hours between us to drive. But it was bad traffic, the only way to meet them it was no other way such as airplane. Airplane is the best and fastest transport in our life. Traveling by car is most popular and memorable than other transportations, because it is convenient and fast. This is a fun travel, you can always travel with a group of people (friends), during your traveling you can any time stop and take a pictures of spectacular places, listen your favorite music or radio and having a good time with friends. For instance, half a year ago my friends and I went to Miami, we had two options. First is travel by car, second is travel by plane. Than we came to an agreement to rent a car, because it would be more interesting and fun. Traveling by car is becoming cheaper and safer and considered to be a very convenient way of traveling. Of course there are some disadvantages in traveling. First of all you can find disadvantages in different ways of traveling such as, traveling by plane-it's expensive, traveling by boat you might catch seasickness and traveling by a car it is very long way of traveling. In my opinion most of people are not traveling so often and I think we should sacrifice of everything for this pleasure. Traveling or seeing places is an important part of our life. Traveling has become part of almost everyone's life. Some people travel for holidays, some travel to meet near and dear people and most of them travel for the seek of pleasure. Traveling is an opportunity to relax and obstruct from every day busy life.

Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people’s mind?

I would rather be invisible. The reason why I would like to be invisible is that nobody can see you, you can enter wherever you want, you can see everybody while nobody is seeing you. When I have been studying at the university, we, our group mates (i.e.my close friends) were dreaming to be invisible. Because if you are late for lectures or classes, you can enter lecture room without saying “excuse” to the professor. And also when we were not satisfied with people, we can go straight to him and beat him. That is great because person cannot see you when you are beating him J So for me it is rather be invisible than to read people’s mind. And finally the most complicated credit – credit cards and consumer credit. Do we really need it? Some need it and cannot avoid its use while others don’t even care about it. That is why there is a lot of dispute around this type of credit, but we are not going to talk about that, because our goal is to know what the right way to use it if any is. Many families become bankrupt not because of house or student loans, but because of everyday expenses on items they cannot afford at this moment. Banks give you credit lines of 2, 3, 5 …10 thousand dollars just based on credit score and not on debit card funds. They try to force you to spend more than you can cover and make you pay interest on the balance that is left. This is financial program, which makes a lot of money for the owners of financial institutes. You as their customer start to be dependent of bank because of the debt. It is very hard to get off of this dependability. How do we avoid it? All banks have secured credit cards where you have to put money down on your credit line. These cards work just like regular credit cards except your line is always covered with deposit you paid to open the card. Therefore in case of emergency you don’t need to worry about the balance on your card because it can be closed no matter how big your balance on it. On the other hand you can get regular credit card. Just make sure you always have enough money on debit card to cover your full balance. However if you start to pay off month by month, it can cause many problems that are difficult to fix. We looked trough the most popular credits that families deal with. It is nothing difficult about it as you can see. We may not need whole financial department to work on making this decision whether or not to take credit. Everything that we have to do is plan future according to reality. Take a credit if it will save your money in long term future, for example a house or student loan, but be careful with thighs that you want to have, but cannot afford at that time, like consumer credit. Hopefully you can use this information in the right way when a decision needs to be made.

A Perfect Day

A perfect day in my imagination looks wonderful. I want to spend one of my days in the mountains. Maybe it is a summer or spring day with a bright sun, blue sky, clean and fresh air, and a lot of tracks of animals. Many birds fly around. You can hear their beautiful songs. Colorful dragonflies sit on the water. Flowers in the mountains are not very big and bright, but they smell very sweet. Bees like their aroma. Sunrises and sunsets in the mountain are perfect. A big and red sun is contrasted with black peaks and dark blue sky. In that moment I want to sit near my tent and look at the fire. This is a perfect day for me.

A Perfect Day

I have had a successful day in my life that was unforgettable. This day was in 2003 when I successfully graduated from my school. On this day, I went in the morning to school to get my certificate. When I got this paper, I came back to my home and I saw a new car in front of my house. I did not care about this car, but when I entered the house my father was laughing and hung the keys in his hand. I was surprised, and he told me you deserve this, my son. I took the key and I went to my friend’s house to show them my car. This kind of car was a Ford Mustang. That is my perfect day in my life, and I cannot forget that day.

My Favorite Food

My favorite food is sushi when I eat it in Japan. I like fresh fish. It’s healthier than meat. Some people hate raw fish because it is so fishy. My favorite sushi has fresh fish, vinegar rice, and wasabi. Wasabi is between the rice and fish. It stings the nose. It’s a good sharp sting, so you can eat sushi if you don’t like the fishy taste of raw fish. You can forget the fish smell. Fresh and fat fish is delicious and chewy. I often went to a sushi restaurant with my family in Japan. I like the Japanese system and Japanese sushi taste, so that is my favorite food.

Elham Alharbi – Level 3

Ice Cream

My favorite food is ice cream. It’s very cold or it’s icy. Its body is smooth and creamy. Its taste and smell depends on the flavor, like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, toffee or coffee. We can add any toppings like chocolate chips, nuts, marshmallow or candy. We can add some syrup like toffee syrup of caramel, or whatever your favorite is. There are many ice cream brands, expensive brands and cheap brands. My favorite brand is Hagen Daas with tiramisu flavor. I’ve like ice cream since I was a child. It gives me happiness and energy. Ice cream is my favorite sweet forever.

Hi my friend, I heard about you! You want to study abroad in the United States. That is really good for you, congratulations. Thus, I wonder if you want some advice. So relax please. I give my small tips in this letter with a nice cup of coffee. My dear friend: Be sure your bags are the best kind of bags. Don't you buy from the cheap store because may there be damage. As you know the trip is not very short. Then don't forget your jacket. Have it with you may you get cold when you arrive there. I know you are smiling right now cause you feeling I'm like your mama but you'll thank me then. Oh. Yes! Be sure to say "Hi and goodbye" for all your family. Don't be lazy or put that off until last minute. They are your folks. They care about you and please you to be safe when you flying. My dear friend: If you think you know everything don't come on. Stay at your home and be boss in your own house. Study and learn. Please be responsible and don't take this good chance like a joke! Let me tell you a secret about studying in the U.S. They don't know how you are or who your father. In fact they really don't care! Thus, there will be just you by yourself, independent, responsible. That exactly what they want from you. And that's what you should do. More then, try to LOVE reading and read everything any time anywhere-. In short do your best and relax. My dear friend: English not very easy to learn. I tell you that not because of scaring you! But to make you ready and to be patience. I tell you that cause I want you to bring me a big bag filled with patience. I need it to study more. My patience has almost finished ^_^. Thus, BE READY. Finally, be sure to put your passport and important papers in your handbag ”bug again ha ha” but this bag makes it part of your body. I mean don’t ever leave it for any reason. I hope you read this letter in good time. Take care, be safe, and one more thing, don’t smoke! No time for that bad habit.
