HISTORY, PRIDE AND

“Wine, like art, is matter, colour, light, satisfaction of the senses, madness and reason, patient research and endless passion.” HISTORY, PRIDE AND WINE

Since 1600 the Giusti family has nurtured its passion for wine and has tended and invested in the land with love and respect for traditions.

It has a strong bond with its local area, which is renowned for its production of great . The family has more than 75 hectares divided into 10 estates which lie between the land on the Nervesa plain, which was home to the very first in ancient times, and the Montello hills. At the centre is the famous Saint Eustace Abbey estate.

Ermenegildo Giusti is a staunch supporter of vine-growing that respects both the environment and the beautiful surrounding countryside. Quality is the company’s top priority, but it also has a strong sense of hospitality and strives to give everyone who visits its estates an experience they will not forget. These qualities are conveyed in every glass of Giusti wine.

Alongside its DOCG and DOC, the company produces Amarone DOCG, Ripasso DOC and important wines which are similar to Bordeaux. It has also revived native varieties like Recantina and Perera. PRODUCTION AREAS

ABBAZIA S. EUSTACHIO The lies in the shadow of the ancient Abbey, where nature and spirituality come together in the ruins of the Saint Eustace Abbey. This estate gives us Prosecco Superiore, , , and , Pinot Nero and for our Cuvée, Manzoni Bianco and for our Passito Bianco. Our best red is also produced here: Umberto I, whose name is a tribute to Ermenegildo Giusti’s beloved grandfather.

AMELIA On a gentle slope, with neatly manicured rows of green vines, it looks as if the Amelia vineyard is guarded by 11 towering trees, trusty sentinels, and, in all likelihood, a legacy from the past. It was on this very spot during the First World War, that a young Canadian pilot was killed by enemy troops. Yet another reason why Amelia has a special place in the heart of the Giusti family.

ARIA VALENTINA The Aria Valentina estate is another gem in the Giusti collection. This vineyard produces 7 different types of , including Recantina, a recent reintroduction from a single variety grape which was totally wiped out in Napoleonic times. This local grape is rapidly earning international popularity for its intense red colour and its splendid fruity bouquet. Other single grape varieties produced on this estate are Prosecco DOCG, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the native Perrera.

AVA This estate is situated on one of the highest spots of the Montello hill and is surrounded by dense forests of chestnut and oak trees which create a special microclimate and a that is particularly suited to cultivating Glera . The differences in temperature on this estate give our fine single grape variety of Prosecco Superiore DOCG its own distinctive quality.

CASE BIANCHE The ancient Case Bianche estate, which has been in the Giusti family since 1870, produces Chardonnay and Prosecco. THE ESTATES

EMILY Emily is the youngest vineyard belonging to the Giusti family. Surrounded by age-old oak and chestnut trees, it is the ideal location for the Recantina vines.

MARIA VITTORIA Surrounded by a green crescent, the Maria Vittoria vineyard, named after Ermenegildo Giusti’s wife, produces only Glera grapes which are used for its Prosecco Superiore DOCG.

ROLANDO The Rolando vineyard, lying over 22.5 hectares, is a vast property of rare beauty. It is home to our head office, the heart of our operations. The vineyard affords spectacular views of the Alps to the north and the pretty Montello hills to the north west. Thanks to the fertile red clay soil, this estate produces a number of grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Glera, the best of which is used in our Prosecco DOC.

ROSALIA The Rosalia vineyard is an impressive expanse of land located on the lowlands of the Piave Basin. It dates back to the mid-1900s and is where the Giusti family first began vine-growing. With its neatly manicured rows of Glera vines, it is testimony to Mr Giusti’s belief that “every vineyard should be tended as if it were a garden". The fruits of this garden are used to produce our Proseccos DOC.

SIENNA Located on a wide expanse on the Piave flood plain and lying at the bottom of the Abbazia vineyard, the Sienna vineyard acts quite literally as an anchor for the other properties. It produces Glera grapes which are used for our Prosecco Superiore DOCG. RED MONTELLO WINES

In the barrique cellar built under the Abbazia estate, the “Umberto I” ages in French oak barrels for 36 months. This is the flagship Bordeaux blend of the , named after Ermenegildo Giusti’s grandfather.

“Antonio” and “Augusto” are the perfect example of the quality driven wine production potential of Montello, known since the time of the “Serenissima” as testified in a document of the 16th Century by Giovanni Alvise Salamon.
