Dear esteemed colleagues, AECOM foundaton was held with the vision to promote the development of Ophthalmic Healthcare through regional and internatonal collaboraton true to the core values of ASEAN. AECOM is aimed towards internatonal scientfc integraton and enhanced connectvity among all leading ophthalmologists in South East Asia. The frst AECOM conference that was held in Thailand 2013 is a major milestone paving the way for fellow ASEAN countries to take turns hostng AECOM conferences annually. The Cambodian Ophthalmological Society had the honor of hostng the 3rd AECOM at Siem Reap, Cambodia in 2015, then the Lao Ophthalmological Society, having the honor of hostng the 4th AECOM in Vientane, Lao PDR in 2016 following by 5 th AECOM in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2017. Last year, the Cambodian Ophthalmological Society had the honor of hostng the 6th AECOM conference at Phnom Penh. This year, AECOM foundaton joining with the Myanmar Ophthalmological Society had the honor of hostng the 6th AECOM conference at Yangon, the capital city of Myanmar. Apart from a comprehensive scientfc program, this arrangement will enhance exchange of updated informaton, educaton, training, research and promote adopton of best practces for professional health services for our future success and growth in the ASEAN region. Professor Yee Yee Aung Dear Esteemed Colleagues, Faculty, Friends, and Guests, Welcome to our 3rd Combined CME! Within the past 3 years, Myanmar Ophthalmological Society (MOS) has grown rapidly into an academically actve teaching organizaton under Myanmar Medical Associaton with having successfully developed 7 speciality interest groups across the country. In additon, with the promising growth in the diferent areas like vitreoretnal, cornea, oculoplastc, paediatric and glaucoma, we are able to organize the monthly speciality symposium regularly to share our experiences among Myanmar ophthalmologists. As MOS contnues to strive in supportng local eye surgeons through the outreach teaching program, we have not forgoten the importance of quality assurance and accreditaton to harmonize with the standard of global Ophthalmology. That is why the coming combined CME will join together with 7th AECOM meetng and Israel Ophthalmic Society to learn across borders. AECOM ASEAN Economic Community Ophthalmology Meetng is originally based in Thammasat University In Thailand which is an excellent teaching and research center in Southeast Asia. The good leadership by Professor Sakchai and Associate Professor Manchima feeds the opportunity to share knowledge, research, and mutual collaboraton to overcome ophthalmic health problem in the region. Under this directon, this meetng has been held annually and is now at its 7th term. Israel Ophthalmic Society is a friend of MOS for more than half a decade and this kind of symposium has started since 2015. Together with teaching sessions for the residents and fellows, we are able to learn through wet-lab based as well as the hands-on live surgery. It is incredibly fruitul to update their knowledge and skill in the respectve felds. As the part of our academic commitee’s efort to make the conjoint meetng with the regional and contnental experts, I would like to invite all of you to be there at Chatrium hotel on November 15 to share and discuss your problem and experiences to improve our Ophthalmic care. 3 History Of ASEAN Economic Community Ophthalmology Meeting (AECOM)

In 2013, AECOM (ASEAN Economic Community Ophthalmology Meetng) was established base on the concept of Thammasat eye center ophthalmologists. Adjunct professor Sakchai Vongkittirux was the founding president with purposeful collaboraton in making the unity of ophthalmologist in Asian countries and established the AEC Ophthalmology meetng. The AEC meetng is intended to share knowledge, researches and the advanced ophthalmologic technology. In additon, this meetng also makes our strong cooperaton among Asian ophthalmologists, healthcare personnel, to prepare, share and generalize the efectve and up-to-date knowledge among the group in the AEC era. The AECOM meetng is an annual meetng held by the member of AEC. A lot of Asian and internatonal ophthalmologists have come to participate to share their knowledge and making the great opportunites, peaceful harmony and future collaboratons for all of ophthalmologists in Asian countries.

4 History Of Thammasat Eye Center

Thammasat Eye Center is a renowned leading insttuton in Thailand. We thrive to become the Excellent Center of the country and the Asia-pacifc Region. Established in 1999, Thammasat Eye Center has since developed its well-round potental in quantum steps, and has become standardized in eye patent service with highly specialized clinics equipped with innovatve and efcient tools and technologies. We place emphasis on public relaton and regularly promote health acknowledgement among citzens as well as providing training and development to nurses, optometrists, technicians and other medical professionals. We broadly support academic work, publicatons and researches to stmulate contnuous knowledge transfer and progressive development. We are an insttuton of highly compettve minds, and we are ready to open our door to the ASEAN Economic Community.

5 History Of Myanmar Ophthalmological Society

The Myanmar Ophthalmological Society, Myanmar Medical Associaton was first formed in 1957 with 14 members. The Society functions as a specialty society of Myanmar Medical Associaton. Membership grew to 345 ophthalmologists in 2016. The executve commitee members are elected at the Annual General Meeting and serve on a 2 year basis. The Society holds the Ophthalmic Conference annually and the recent 28th Myanmar Ophthalmological Conference in October 2016. It also convenes a mid- year Academic Meetng every 2 years in the historical city of Mandalay. The Society collaborates in implementng the actvites of Natonal Eye Health Plan of the Preventon of Blindness Department of Ministry of Health and Sport. Combined Contnuing Medical Educaton programs are held every three months in afliated universites. The society bulletns are published and disseminated to the society members every three months. Myanmar Ophthalmological Society is member of the following internatonal associatons -ASEAN Ophthalmology Society (2014) -World Glaucoma Associaton (2016) -Asia-Pacifc Academy of Ophthalmology (2017) -Internatonal Council of Ophthalmology (2017)

7 AECOM Distinguished Service Awards

AECOM Foundation supports a “Distinguished Service Awards” program, aimed towards promoting the recognition of Ophthalmologists who have dedicated themselves to Ophthalmic Healthcare in their country, the ASEAN region or to the AECOM community. Prior to each annual AECOM event, Ophthalmologists who are keypersons for each representative ASEAN country are invited to nominate one Ophthalmologist from their country to receive our Trophy or Plaque Award of recognition. The award is presented by the founding president of AECOM at the opening ceremony of each annual AECOM event. Additional eligibility criteria for Distinguished Service Awards nominees are : -The country hostng the current year’s AECOM can have 2 nominees -The country hostng the upcoming year’s AECOM can have 2 nominees -The nominee must be able to atend the AECOM event to receive the prize -The nominee has not received previous AECOM Distnguished Service Awards -The nominee must be able to provide us with a CV/Resume for introductory use during the awards ceremony -The AECOM commitee does not provide travel and accommodaton cost for nominees We at the AECOM commitee strongly believe that the recogniton of exemplary individuals in the community strengthens our unity and drives us forward together as a region. Professor Yee Yee Aung Dr Yee Yee Aung is a consultant ophthalmologist actng as Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology University of Yangon Eye Hospital. She completed her undergraduate medical training at University of Medicine 1, Yangon in 1987, and Master of Medical Science in Ophthalmology in 1997. Afer completon of her residency, she joined SNEC for FRCS Edinburgh Ophthalmology 2001 together with MSC Ophthalmology Singapore. She has been trained as a fellow under Consultant Dr Sonal Farazarvandi Paediatric and Strabismus in NUH Singapore untl 2012. She also received Doctorate degree in Medical Science(Ophthalmology) in 2006 from UM 1 Yangon and diploma in Medical Educaton, University of Public Health Yangon in 2014. She is passionate about teaching and has regularly involved in educatng undergrad and postgrad students, Ophthalmic nurses and refractonists. In addition she is a member of the Editorial Board of the Myanmar Ophthalmology Society since 2015. Beyond the ofcial dutes, she is keenly interested in local Ophthalmic mission work. She is a regular volunteer with free clinics for the needy in country. Together working collaboraton with internatonal Ophthalmic communites like WHO, Hellen Keller Internatonal, ORBIS, Sight for All, Sydney Eye bank, Casey Eye Insttute Portland, she tried to set up the various subspecialites in University of Medicine Mandalay to improve the quality eye care for people in Upper Myanmar Between 2012-2019. Her current clinical practce includes general Ophthalmology with a special interest in the feld of Paediatric Ophthalmology and strabismus. With the need of Vitreo-retnal services in Upper Myanmar, her team has worked together with the support and under guidance of Sydney Vitreous-retnal facultes since 2014 including herself as the fellow, now the functoning VR Unit is actvely running in Mandalay.

Dr Chiang Wai Seng, MD (USM), MMED (Ophthal)(USM), CMIA (NIOSH)

Dr Chiang graduated from University Science Malaysia in 2002. He achieved his Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology from University Science Malaysia in 2011. He is a general ophthalmologist with special interest in comprehensive and community ophthalmology service. Dr Chiang received three tmes Excellent Service Award from Ministry of Health for his dedicaton and commitment to work in Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Hospital Lahad Datu and Hospital Duchess of Kent in Sabah, Malaysia. He is a member of Natonal Preventon of Blindness commitee and he is a certfed Medical Impairment Assessor of the Natonal Insttute of Occupatonal Safety and Health of Malaysia (NIOSH). Dr Chiang currently works in Sandakan which is the second largest district in Sabah as the Head of Ophthalmology Department , Hospital Duchess of Kent and also as the Chief Ophthalmologist incharge of outreach programme- cataract screening and operaton in rural area of East Coast Sabah. He is a trainer and speaker to medical ofcers, optometrists and family medicine specialists in credentaling and privileging of diabetc retnopathy screening workshop. He also functons as supervisor to medical ofcers and ophthalmologists in their surgical training. Dr. Chiang’s vision is to establish accessible eye service to a wider community. He actvely partcipates in public organizaton such as Lions Club , Rotary Club and Tzu Chi associaton for eye health forum and charity cataract operaton to reduce cataract blindness in poverty group.
