When he le university Andy moved to Manchester to complete his PGCE in Geography. He then spent a season playing rugby with old friends for his home club Lincoln whilst he completed his first year of teaching. The second game saw Oswestry come out the brightest scoring a number of quick tries with no reply. It would be easy for players of any age to get disheartened, however these young Saints did not let their heads drop and ba led on as a team and were eventually rewarded with a try of their own before half me. I know it’s a well-used phrase in sport but this really was a ‘game of two halves’. I would love to say it was all down to the inspira onal half me coaches speech but really this was due to the efforts of all the kids!

I can’t believe we didn’t win this game - I was genuinely shocked when Norm told me that we had lost. Thinking about it we did gi Os a couple of tries but a er opening up a three try lead it was difficult to see how we could lose this game.
