Softball enthusiasts in Fargo are joining forces with the Fargo Park District in planning a new softball complex to be located at the very north border of the city of Fargo, just south of Harwood and visible from I-29 Interstate. In the first phase, the center “Championship” diamonds will be built along with one fi ve diamond spoke. The center will have four fast pitch diamonds and four slow pitch diamonds in it with the main building in the center. There will be one diamond each which will be designated as a Championship diamond with seating to accom- modate large crowds. The project will start this year and the complex is projected to be playable in 2016 barring any complications. The reason the project is starting now is that Fargo is building a permanent fl ood wall/ dike in the middle of Mickelson Park so some of the current fast pitch diamonds located there will be lost. The slow pitch group is also anxious to consolidate their diamonds and stop playing on school property at McKinley and Longfellow schools and also on the NDSU diamonds.
