MINNESOTA WILD SIGNS DEFENSEMAN MIKE WEBER

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the (NHL) club has signed defenseman Mike Weber to a one-year, two-way contract for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.

Weber, 29 (12/16/87), has totaled eight points (1-7=8) in 54 games with Iowa in the (AHL) this season, ranking second on the club with 92 minutes (PIM) and third with a plus-5 rating while serving as team captain. The 6-foot-2, 211-pound native of , Pa., has totaled 53 points (9-44=53) and 437 PIM in 351 career games during parts of eight NHL seasons with Buffalo (2007-2016) and Washington (2015- 16), adding 51 points (8-43=51) and 517 PIM in 235 career AHL games. Last season, he totaled five points (1- 4=5) and 32 PIM in 35 games with Buffalo before registering 28 PIM in 10 games with Washington. The blueliner totaled one assist and 6 PIM in seven playoff games with Buffalo in 2011 and skated in two playoff games with Washington last season. He was originally selected by Buffalo in the second round (57th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
