If you’ve tried dialing into AM 1400 or FM 96.9 on the radio lately, the only thing you’ll hear is a lot of static. The stations went temporarily off air following the death of owner Bob Toole, 70, from cancer, last November. The city not only misses its classic country and soft oldies music, it also lost a much valued citizen who supported this community for nearly 25 years. Each year the Silver State Post asks readers for nominations of those they believe made a differ- ence in the Deer Lodge community, and this year, Bob Toole has been selected. “Bob Toole gave countless hours to community events, such as sports; market sale for 4-H; city council meetings; holiday music for those at home,” wrote Roni Wangerin, one of the people who nomi- nated Toole. “His passing leaves a big hole in our community.” Bob’s wife, Karen, considered him her best friend, and they worked together more than 45 years. They would have celebrated their 42nd anni- versary in December. Music brought them together. She was a singer, he played bass guitar in a band. Bob had myriad interests throughout his life; as a youngster, he was an all-star baseball player, with his team taking first place as the 1961 National Willow Bledsoe, 7, Haylie Thomas, 10, Rylie Cleverley, 7, and Ariel Martinez, 6, enjoy a tall pile of snow Saturday afternoon. Silver State Post, February 3, 20216 Phone and Internet Discounts Available to CenturyLink Customers

The Montana Public Service Commission designated CenturyLink as an Eligible Telecommunications Carrier within its service area for universal service purposes. CenturyLink’s basic local service rates for residential voice lines are $26.50 per month and business services are $36.00 per month. Specific rates will be provided upon request. CenturyLink participates in a government benefit program (Lifeline) to make residential telephone or broadband service more affordable to eligible low-income individuals and families. Eligible customers are those that meet eligibility standards as defined by the Federal Communications Commission and state commissions. Residents who live on federally recognized Tribal Lands may qualify for additional Tribal benefits if they participate in certain federal eligibility programs. The Lifeline discount is available for only one telephone or broadband service per household, and can be on either wireline or wireless service. Broadband speeds must be 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload or faster to qualify.
