Summary of the project

As the dialogue is the essential practice in democracy, our project "paroles jeunesses" aims at highlighting the channel of communication among Euro- Mediterranean youth. This can not only promote the cultural exchange and the notion of citizenship, but also prevent violence. In effect, our project "paroles jeunesses" suggests to create an independent democratic space whereby we stress cultural exchange and democracy practice. This space will serve as a school of both citizenship and democracy which are key concepts in this transitory period. On the other hand, this project seeks to positivize the youths' consciousness vis à vis the other culture by putting the emphasis on the already existing obstacles in order to spread democracy in their countries.

This project is an opportunity that enables the youth to inform and be informed on democracy, especially that the participants are from different countries and with different cultural backgrounds. Aiming at building a free, boundary- less world, this project is basically about common concerns just like reinforcing intercultural dialogue, reducing prejudices and racism. All this will inevitably develop the sense of tolerance through diversity. In this light, INMA association suggests to work on two main topics; Freedom and Democracy and organizes an international youth exchange in Maamoura Tunisia, the project will gather youth group coming from France, Roumanie, Italie Tunisia, Algeria, Egypte..

We wish to know the participants ‘s opinion on matters of freedom and democracy, ie what do freedom and democracy represent to them and in what ways do these premises contribute to a more free life. Are we also free according to our mother countries? In what ways we have progressed democratically speaking and what are the hindrances that restrict us to do so?? What hampers our freedom and how shall we normally behave to be more free? As citizens, How can we broaden solidarity, freedom and real participatory democracy of our townsman?

The projects objectives are multiple and need to be defined, with 6 groups, How do they conceive democracy? In what ways is democracy a source of freedom? How can we distinguish the different modes of democracy , that is to recognize the experienced democracy in each

country? how can we exchange those latter experiences and behave democratically in our everyday life .

Along with the biased discussion, our objectives are part and parcel of the Euro Med Program as we seek to make the youngsters conscious of the importance of mutual understanding and common recognition of the problems , in spite of cultural differences. We also wish to stress mutual understanding among youths from different horizons , and develop solidarity and tolerance among them. By negotiating and refering to the problems, we recognize them and find the adequate solutions to them ; Hence, we encourage the youngsters to become free, open and tolerant citizens.

Nabeul Tunisian pronunciation: [ˈnɛːbɪl]; French: [naˈbøl]) is a coastal town in northeastern , ﻧﺎﺑل :Arabic) Tunisia, on the south coast near to the Cap Bon peninsula. It is located at around 36°27′N 10°44′E and is the capital of the Nabeul Governorate. The city has a population of 56,387 (2004 census).

Nabeul was founded in the 5th century BC by the Greeks of Cyrene, serving as a trade port. Its name is an Arabised form of the Greek Neapolis 'new city' (an etymology it shares with , Neapoli, and ). It is a popular tourist destination and the main centre of the Tunisian pottery industry. Nabeul is a small city of just about 60,000 people (probably a few thousand less) and is a place that many visitors will find themselves during a visit to Tunisia. Nabeul is also the main administrative centre of the governerate of Nabeul and an area that includes a large piece of the Cap Bon region and the major tourist area of Hammamet, which ihas increasingly become more famous than Nabeul itself. when you drive to Nabuel from Hammamet, you can see the numerous travel agencies and hotels on the road and this tells you that this is one of the main administrative centres for , although the concentration of hotels and restaurants reduces as you get the Nabeul itself as this is very much a working town as well as a touristic one.
