She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the author of Why Some Things Should Not Be For Sale: The Moral Limits of Markets (2010). She is the Editor, with Rob Reich, Doug McAdam, and David Grusky, of Occupy the Future (2013), and the Editor, with Rob Reich, of Toward a Humanist : The of Susan Moller Okin (2009). Professor Satz has written many important articles in leading public affairs journals such as Ethics, and World Bank Economic Review. She co-founded, with Rob Reich, the Hope House Scholars Program, in which Stanford professors teach humanities courses to women currently in Hope House, a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. Professor Satz received her BA from City College of New York in 1978 and her PhD from MIT in 1998.
