The Company

West Cumbria Mining Ltd is a private company that, following significant initial equity capital investment, is currently focused on establishing a large tonnage, high quality coking coal mine in the UK to supply the steel industry at home and overseas. West Cumbria Mining has a series of licences which collectively cover an area of approximately 200km2 off the coast at Whitehaven, adjacent to and contiguous with the former Haig Colliery. Based on existing data, there is over 1 billion tonnes of coking coal resources across the area. The company is aiming to develop a world class underground mine that will produce between two to three million tonnes of hard to semi-soft coking coal a year. We are engaging with and supporting the people and environment local to the mine site as the area evolves into a modern mining community which can be proud of its role in producing quality coking coal for the UK and European steel industry. The company has adopted a very open, honest and proactive approach to engagement and is aiming to continue the positive work completed to date. The news of investigations into an underground mining operation at Whitehaven in Cumbria has been very well received by the investment community, steel producers and those in the local community. WCM has completed £14.7m in private equity financing with EMR Capital Resources Fund to support the next stages of development, including onshore and offshore borehole drilling campaigns, production of a JORC indicated resource of 300-400 million tonnes and completion of a Preliminary Feasibility Study in 2015/2016.
