3RD AND 4TH GRADE GIRLS INTERPARK DISTRICT KYBL, Sugar Grove (2017-2018 SEASON) 1. An women’s size ball (28.5 in diameter) will be used for all games. 2. Two (45 second long) timeouts PER HALF will be allowed for each team. The clock will stop during all time-outs. 3. There will be no free throws taken in this league. Any open court fouls will simply result in the ball being put back into play in that area where the was committed. In the event the offensive player was in the act of shooting and the ball does not go in, one will be awarded plus the ball back out of bounds to that team. If a foul is committed by the defense and the ball does go into the basket, three points will be awarded and the opposing team will get possession of the ball. 4. At half-time all kids from both teams will shoot 1 . This will count towards each teams total score (1 point for each basket made). An equal number of players must shoot for each team. 5. Individual fouls will not be kept. TEAM FOULS WILL BE KEPT. Teams will be allowed 7 fouls per half without penalty. Beginning with the 8th team foul, every defensive foul will result in one point for the opposing team. (shooting fouls will still only result in one point as they normally do) 6. The “3-seconds in the lane” rule will be enforced, however kids will have 5 seconds. 7. Score will be kept for these games, unless the score becomes too lopsided in which the scorekeeper will choose to erase the score and start over. No standings will be posted. 8. Only man-to-man defense is allowed. Players may double team down on the ball when it is in the lane area only. If double-teaming occurs anywhere else on the floor or if teams show any signs of , the official will blow the whistle and correct this action. 9. Only half-court defense is allowed at all times during the course of the ballgame. Defensive players must have at least one foot behind a designated defensive line at all times and are allowed to reach over the line. This line is located basically at the top of the and runs sideline to sideline. Note: Please prepare your team to immediately get back on defense when the other team rebounds the ball. Kids have a tendency to immediately begin guarding the ball after a defensive . (Considered pressing). 10. Quarters will be TEN minutes long. A running clock will be used throughout the ballgame. The clock will stop on all dead ball situations during the last minute of each half only. 11. Games can end in a tie. No Over-Time will occur. 12. Substitutions: The officials will stop the clock as close to five minute mark as possible of each quarter to allow for substitutions. This will be the only time allocated for subbing each quarter. Injury would be the only expectation to this rule. 13. Equal Playing Time requirement: a. A period is defined as half of a quarter. b. No player shall sit more than two periods in a row. c. Equal playing time guidelines are as follows: i. 11 players=7 players play 4 periods, 4 players play 3 periods ii. 10 players=10 players play 4 periods. iii. 9 players=4 players play 5 periods, 5 players play 4 periods iv. 8 players=8 players play 5 periods v. 7 players=5 players play 6 periods, 2 players play 5 periods vi. 6 players=4 players play 7 periods, 2 players play 6 periods vii. 5 players=5 players play the whole game. 14. No pressing is allowed at any time during the game. (exception: Rule #15 below) 15. During the last 1 Minute of the 4th Quarter only, the 10 second rule to get the ball over half court (and the “over and back call”) will be enforced. Also, half court M-M defense may extend up to this half court line during this time. This will prevent teams from stalling out the clock at the end of the game.
