Lions Clubs International Foundations

Last Financial Year our District and Lions Clubs donated $43,084.00 to LCIF $14,084.00 above our planned budget of $29,000.00. Thank you for that effort, However, only 54% of our 65 Lions Clubs contributed to that amount.

Lions Save Sight Community Challenge Awarded to District Cake Chairman Lion June Field

June Field (left) recently won Lions Australia's special Charity Award. She is pictured with Bowning & District Lions president Cecile Felderhoff. June Field has been recognised with a special accolade for her fundraising work with Bowning & District Lions. June was given The Charity Award from Lions Australia after she managed to raise more than $20,000 for the Save Sight Foundation. The Yass woman entered the Lions Save Sight Community Challenge event and walked away with the award after she raised the most money as an individual. The money was raised through raffles and through the selling of her craftwork, which include tea-towels, face cloths, and babies clothes. June has been with the club for more than 20 years and has averaged at least $6,000 a year on a per- sonal level. Despite this, June said she doesn't do it for herself, or for the potential rewards that come from it all. "I'm very proud of winning this award, but I have done so on behalf of the Bowning Lions," she said. "I enjoy doing all this and I don't do it for the silverware." Bowning and District Lions raised more than $80,000 last financial year. That money has already been injected back into the community. Article and Photo courtesy of Oliver Watson, Yass Tribune.
