Call for Scholarships for International Summer School (BISS)

The University of Birmingham, one of our strategic partner universities, offers three scholarships for the “Birmingham International Summer School“ (BISS, 20 July - 7 August 2020). Please visit the summer school website for further information: www.birmingham.ac.uk/biss

Programme The Birmingham International Summer School offers you the chance to study a three-week exciting programme in the Heart of England on one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK, while having the opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the fascinating culture and heritage of Britain.

Programmes on offer include:

- The Biomedical Science Global Challenge - British Cultural Heritage - Contemporary Challenges in World Politics - Film & Media - Global Environmental Issues - English Language: Communicating with Confidence - Mathematical Finance and Financial Time Series Analysis

Each programme offers 20 UK credits or 10 ECTS credits.

Scholarships & Applications

The University of Birmingham would like to offer three scholarships for nominated students enrolled at University. Students can choose from the six programmes offered. The programme fee is £2750 but the selected students would be entitled to a £2000 scholarship, and therefore only a remaining £750 fee would be required. (Please note that BISS does not cover travel or subsistence costs.) You can check the necessary entry requirements for BISS here:

The application deadline is 14 February 2020. Please send your application documents to Patrick Stärke ([email protected] .de) of the International Office/Goethe University Frankfurt. The necessary application documents are:

1) Confirmation of Enrollment with Goethe University (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) 2) Transcript of Records (QIS/LSF summary of grades) 3) Motivational Letter (in English) 4) CV 5) English Language requirement: a. Proficiency in the English Language equivalent to IELTS 6 overall with no lower than 5.5 in any band, or b. English Language proficiency of TOEFL IBT 80 overall with no less than 19 in listening, 19 in reading, 21 in speaking and 19 in writing, or c. Abitur grade 10 in English (English should be studied across four semesters, with the overall result of ‘gut’).
