Can the department provide an itemised list of these projects, including title, location, description and amount funded? Answer: Please refer to below table for itemised lists of projects addressing threatened species outcomes, including title, location, description and amount funded. INFORMATION ON PROJECTS WITH THREATENED SPECIES OUTCOMES The following projects were identified by the funding applicant as having threatened species outcomes and were assessed against the criteria for the respective programme round. Funding is for a broad range of activities, not only threatened species conservation activities. Figures provided for the Green Army are approximate and are calculated on the 2015-16 indexed figure of $176,732. Some of the funding is provided in partnership with State & Territory Governments. Additional projects may be approved under the Natinoal Environmental Science programme and the Nest to Ocean turtle Protection Programme up to the value of the programme allocation These project lists reflect projects and funding originally approved. Not all projects will proceed to completion. -

Biodiversity Summary for NRM Regions Species List What is the summary for and where does it come from? This list has been produced by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPC) for the Natural Resource Management Spatial Information System. The list was produced using the AustralianAustralian Natural Natural Heritage Heritage Assessment Assessment Tool Tool (ANHAT), which analyses data from a range of plant and animal surveys and collections from across Australia to automatically generate a report for each NRM region. Data sources (Appendix 2) include national and state herbaria, museums, state governments, CSIRO, Birds Australia and a range of surveys conducted by or for DEWHA. For each family of plant and animal covered by ANHAT (Appendix 1), this document gives the number of species in the country and how many of them are found in the region. It also identifies species listed as Vulnerable, Critically Endangered, Endangered or Conservation Dependent under the EPBC Act. A biodiversity summary for this region is also available. Declared Plant Policy This policy relates to natural resources management under section 9(1)(d) of the Landscape South Australia Act 2019 (the Act), enabling co-ordinated implementation and promotion of sound management programs and practices for the use, development or protection of natural resources of the State. Specifically, this policy provides guidance on the use and management of natural resources relating to the prevention or control of impacts caused by pest species of plants that may have an adverse effect on the environment, primary production or the community, as per object s7(1)(f) of the Act. sagittaria (Sagittaria platyphylla) Sagittaria is an emergent aquatic plant that is rare in South Australia. In the eastern States it is a problem weed that obstructs drains and irrigation channels. It resembles giant arrowhead, Sagittaria montevidensis, which is not known in South Australia, but is established in New South Wales and Victoria, and is the subject of a separate policy. Management Plan for Sagittaria Outcomes • Maintain waterways free of blockages by water weeds. • Maintain wetlands free of major weed threats. Objectives • Eradicate current infestations on the Murray and in dams in the Mount Lofty ranges • Prevent further introduction of sagittaria to waterways and wetlands. Best Practice Implementation • Any infestations of sagittaria discovered to be treated as incursions and destroyed. • To prevent introduction or spread, any sale and movement to be prohibited. • Regional landscape boards and Green Adelaide to inspect -

THE NATURAL HISTORY OF UPPER STURT, SOUTH AUSTRALIA PART I: VEGETATION HISTORY, FLORA AND MACROFUNGI OF A MESSMATE STRINGYBARK FOREST Tony Robinson and Julia Haska PO Box 47 UPPER STURT SA 5156 Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT: An area of Eucalyptus obliqua, Messmate Stringybark Forest in Upper Sturt, Mt Lofty Ranges, South Australia was studied over a 38 year period. The land use history since the area was first settled by Europeans in 1843, to the present day is summarized. The area is now known to support 249 species of plants of which 105 species are introduced and 64 species of macrofungi of which at least 3 are introduced. Although the area has undergone many changes since European settlement it remains an important area of remnant native vegetation. There are ongoing challenges from weed invasion, overgrazing by over-abundant kangaroos and introduced koalas and from potential damage by severe wildfire KEY WORDS: Upper Sturt, land use history, forest, flora, fungi, vegetation INTRODUCTION: This is the first of three papers describing revegetation of cleared land adjacent to areas of relatively natural remnant native vegetation. In this paper, elements of the vegetation, flora and fungi are described in a study area at 16 Pole Road, Upper Sturt in the Mt Lofty Ranges. The second paper describes the vertebrate and invertebrate fauna of the area, while the third paper provides results of fauna and vegetation monitoring in sample sites established in both the re-vegetated area and the remnant natural vegetation in the Upper Sturt study area. A second series of three papers will cover the flora and fauna and a more extensive revegetation program on a study area on the western end of Kangaroo Island (in prep.). -
